I have read, seen and heard many that were comparing the riot at the capital to the BLM movement that has brought riots to the streets of many cities. The outcome of both ended as riots, But what about the causes? In the BLm protests, we have both black and many whites in the streets protesting the killing of unarmed black men and women by police. With the riot at the capital we have almost an almost entirely white group of protesters who are complaining that they lost an election because it was rigged and fraudulent. There has been no proof that such fraud and rigging even existed, but it is based on allegations. The BLM riots ended some buildings being burned and looting, some done by others than the BLM protesters and thousands of arrests, over 150 in Washington DC alone. The riots at the capital was an attempt at overturning a duly elected president and could only be called insurrection. Arrests at the time of the riot was limited to about 50, but it is expected that number will grow to well over a hundred. So do the two compare, maybe in the fact that they both led to riots, but the basis for the two is certainly totally different. The riots at the capital will certainly have long term negative effects on our country. THe BLM protests will probably have little if any effect long term on how police interact with black people in the streets as they have not done so in the past.
