I have read, seen and heard many that were comparing the riot at the capital to the BLM movement that has brought riots to the streets of many cities. The outcome of both ended as riots, But what about the causes? In the BLm protests, we have both black and many whites in the streets protesting the killing of unarmed black men and women by police. With the riot at the capital we have almost an almost entirely white group of protesters who are complaining that they lost an election because it was rigged and fraudulent. There has been no proof that such fraud and rigging even existed, but it is based on allegations. The BLM riots ended some buildings being burned and looting, some done by others than the BLM protesters and thousands of arrests, over 150 in Washington DC alone. The riots at the capital was an attempt at overturning a duly elected president and could only be called insurrection. Arrests at the time of the riot was limited to about 50, but it is expected that number will grow to well over a hundred. So do the two compare, maybe in the fact that they both led to riots, but the basis for the two is certainly totally different. The riots at the capital will certainly have long term negative effects on our country. THe BLM protests will probably have little if any effect long term on how police interact with black people in the streets as they have not done so in the past.

Apparently now-a-days you have to preface everything with “violence is bad” but they are very different.

One is a very real issue while the other is a fabricated excuse to make “real patriots” feel ok about advocating for a dictatorship.

Nope, I believe the BLM riots will continue to menace the country because the leaders have learned how to make big money off cops shooting perps, regardless of whether the shootings were justified. In contrast, the Capitol riots grew out of largely spontaneous rage. Extremist right wingers may have played a role but they weren’t in charge. Now if there are actual attempts at insurrection during the inauguration, those will be directly comparable to BLM’s depredations.

The two groups are at odds with each other; they're the symbolic two sides of the supposed "civil war."

Another group is making boatloads of money ... while the pandemic, US political collapse, and Earth's biosphere collapse continue.

With the seeming preplanning of the riot at the capital, your idea that it was mostly if any spontaneous rage does not really ring true. Pipe bombs and now it seems that some of the GOP House members gave pre-riot walk through of the buildings to people who later participated in the riots do not point to a spontaneous rage, but planned determination to overturn the election count by force.

BLM protests were based on actual events, January 6th was based on lies.

I think there are two main differences between the BLM protests and the 1/6 Trump protests.

First is the reason for them. Trump's supporters are protesting against perceived election fraud with absolutely no evidence to support it whatsoever. BLM is protesting against very real police violence and abuse of power, particularly against minorities.

Second is crimes committed. The BLM protests have, for the most part, devolved into property crime. Looting, willful destruction of property, arson, etc. There has been some violence as well. Trump's protest became a coup attempt against the lawful government of the United States.

I don't excuse the crimes committed during BLM protests. Those who committed them should be punished. But they're not as bad as what happened on 1/6.

The number of arrest have grown significantly. It may have been much larger initially if the Capital Police and D.C. police had been better prepared. That's on their leadership. As far as you "almost an almost entirely white group of protesters" how racist is that? What's the implication? Since I saw black men and women in the crowd both the rally and at the capital. YOu know looking at many of the riots this summer I saw in some cities almost, almost entirely black rioters. Want to know why racism keeps getting in the way of America fixing it's race issue? Because people on the left keep stirring it up for political benefit. If America is so racist, if republicans and white people are so racist as the left claims, then why are black americans slowly becoming republican voters? Why am I seeing more and more black organizations for republicans? It's less the american people and more the democrat machine stirring the pot. See how easy it is to always throw race into the mix. I have worked and participated in social settings and organizations my entire life with people of all races, genders, political organizations, sexual orientation and oddly enough there have very seldomly been any real heated arguements of the political BS we see coming from our so called leaders. Stop and think, it's the leaders, the pot stirrers causing this for political advantage with no real regard to the damage it does to America and Americans.

Yes, it was "spontaneous" if you don't count the President of the United States publicly stoking that "rage" for two solid months. But other than the President stoking it and an army of minions stoking it, on social media, many websites, and our TVs, the rage was truly spontaneous.

I have no problem with the protestors at the capitol last week.

They stayed outside.

The people that went in were insurgents and traitors that need dealing with, with the maximum force of law. No exceptions.

If you think Trump was intentionally inciting a riot at the capital, an assault of the Capital then you must also believe that a large group of Democrat politicians and supportere were inciting riotings for years from their side.
Where is the release of he Presidents speech given on the platform of the Stop the Steal rally? There is no complete replay of the speech that I have seen being broadcast by the media, nor by the democrats wanting to impeach the President. There has been no replay of the President encouraging or ordering an assualt on the Capital Building, no demands to assault officers, no instruction to breach the building, no suggestion to cause damage or destruction. Never is there a video replay showing the President making any statement to encourage violence, insurrection, sedition, harm or damage to any person or to the Capital itself. Why is there no such video shown? Because no such video exist. It doesn't exist because he never said those things. There is also no video by the left media and the democrats of Trump saying, "march to the capital to let your voices be heard, peacefully and patriotically". Why not? Because this doesn't help their cause, in fact it gives proof to the lie of the left.
The Democrats who have instigated this behavior from the beginning of Trumps Presidency.
Claims Trump is an illegitimate President.
Claims Trump Colluded with Russians.
Maxine Waters calling on democrats to get in the face of Republicans and harass them and let them know they are not welcome.
Cory Booker saying democrats should get up in the face of Republican lawmakers and challenge them.
Nancy Pelosi tearing up the State of the Union Address on internationally broadcast television.
Failure democrats to denounce months of violence by BLM and ANTIFA groups where cities were destroyed, set ablaze, parts of cities occupied for weeks, police officers and federal buildings and police precincts attacked, set on fire.
Purely partisan impeachment with no first hand evidence provided of the charges by democrats.
Kamala Harris encouraging and soliciting funds to pay the bail on BLM and ANTIFA members who participated in the assault on our cities and our police officers. She went as far as to do this on her web site. She also said rioters in the cities would not stop and should not stop. Referring to the violence as a movement, a movement that resulted in Billions of dollars in destruction of city, state, federal and private property.
Democrats objecting to certifying elections in every Republican President elected of the 21st century.
Democrats preaching racism and accusing every white person in America of being a white supremacist, and a racist.

They are the same in some ways, and different in others.

Both involved the use of violence by a small percentage of participants.

Both involved the use of violence and intimidation in furtherance of political goals.

Both were based on largely or totally false assumptions and prejudices.

Both involved attacks on government buildings and against government personnel, including those representing some of our most sacred institutions.

The BLM riots were much larger in scale and effect in terms of time, number of incidents, damage caused, and loss of life.

The Capitol attack, was much more serious than any one BLM-related riot.

I made a point, it involved Trump and the supposedly "spontaneous" rage of the insurrectionists. It wasn't spontaneous. Trump addressed that crowd and worked them into a frenzy on national television that day. That effort followed months of him and an army of minions spreading lies about an election being stolen that day. They do not attack the capitol but for Trump's lies about the election.

And your excuse is, basically, that all Trump did was build the bonfire and pour gasoline on the kindling, but didn't actually throw the match, and, and this part is actually critical, while the Capitol burning did NOTHING to stop it. He had to be convinced by staff and many others imploring his staff to issue a statement, and by the accounts I've seen it was the VP who called in the NG to put this insurrection down. Trump was MIA because he told us he loved the insurrectionists.

I deleted the BUT MOM THEY DID IT TOO!!!!! nonsense.
