The last President, a democrat, promised to bring home troops, he failed and now the current President is ordering a reduction of troops. Seems the only people unhappy about getting out of long standing war zones in the middle east are the military leaders and the Military Industrial Complex. Is it about money?

Every single war we've fought in since the Korean war ended has been strictly about money.

What the military/industrial complex is: your congress person tries to keep defense jobs in his district.

That's all it is.

President Eisenhower complained about the military industrial complex back in the 1950s and conspiracy kooks ate it up. Are companies going to lobby congress to get jobs? Sure. It's how it's supposed to be.

B1 Bob Dornan was a California congressman. When the military was going to close the B1 bomber program down, Dornan fought hard to keep it going. Why? His constituents wanted those high paying defense jobs.

The military didn't want the bomber. It didn't have a mission after the Cold War was over.

Trump has spent the last few years bragging about all the weapons we have bought and sold.

Also, Trump hasn’t actually delivered on his promise. And he has stated that a) “we made sure to keep the oil” and b) has offered that he sent troops to Saudi Arabia because they pay cash.

So for Trump the answer seems to be “it’s always for cash.” He and Jared looooove the military industrial complex.

Lobbying for wasteful pork and treasury gibs/handouts to defense companies and contractors, and worse still, the circumstances that would justify such, may be 'all it is', but that's a lot, and it is a heinous practice given it is far from the most productive and efficient use of public funds (and American lives when things actually turn to war). Eisenhower was right to complain, and the problem has only gotten dramatically worse since.

As for Trump, one of the things I can say to his credit is that he hasn't gotten us involved in any new wars just yet, though he hasn't been successful at pairing down foreign deployments, and in fact has inflated the military budget to be bigger than ever.

Was it a stroke of genius crapping on the Pentagon leadership on Labor Day?

Trump has a problem with the MIC now ... with only weeks remaining until the election?

Strange this comes out when he is taking a beating for labeling US soldiers "losers and suckers".

And another thing. Trump ordered the US government to ignore the murder of Saudi activist Jamal Khashoggi by Crown Prince Mohammad bin-Salman because "the Kingdom buys a lot of US weapons".

Hey, that's great, we need to cut our Military Budget by 50%.

Now let's piss off the beef industry by making all our Federal dollars Vegan and using the cows for manure to grow vegetables after you've gutted the meat industry this way.

That'll cut health care by 50%.

Two bad Trump blew it.

Now he's way over them.

He blew it twice too and this is just to prove it when he did his tax cut.

Another lie by the current administration. We have more service members abroad today than when djt took office.

That would be shrub and President Obama.

I can't believe I long for the days of a Bush presidency, at least we knew he was on America's side.

How much per head do you think Trump negotiated for our guys to go to Saudi Arabia and protect MBS?
