I am the one that needs to get informed? Weren't you the one that said pollutants go up with the water during evaporation?

Yeah, then it was said that the acid rain which is currently tainting our water supply come from air pollution. I learned something today and am greatfull. However my lack of knowledge of this particular peice of info does not invalidate my argument. Because the rain is still polluted and the water tables are still polluted and the rivers, streams and oceans are still polluted as well as the melting ice caps to boot. The equasion? Our water is polluted and we aren't gonna make it.

Empires and whole civilizations have fallen from lesser things than lack of water, and humanity presses on. Humanity will continue to do so. The current world order may collapse, and most of the population die even (which makes water availble for the survivors). I am not saying this is a good thing, and it's a worst case scenerio.

We are not going to destroy the planet, not without serious directed effort to actualy do so. We might destroy our current selves, and I still even doubt that. People making predictions about events 50 years into the future, is quite a lot of fiction. No person 50 years ago, predicting the future, has done so with any reasonable accuracy, not with the rate of technological exapnsion and understanding.

Now, that doesn't mean we should run amok, of course not. We should definately pay attention to the way our eco- and water systems work, and start managing them properly, if we want our societies to survive. We must also be careful not to let sensationalism and politics confuse and delude us. Planning an action to correct a problem with the wrong information, is often disasterous, if not more so that letting the problem alone. Remember Politicans are not scientists, nor are most newspaper writers, or book sellers. ANd carefully watch how governments adversly affect economies and legal systems to promote pollution, even inadvertantly.

Keep a clean head, and put things in order, and definately learn science. You seem pretty passionate about the issue, and you can benefit yourself and the world by understanding these issues.

Nope not kidding. Pollution is our biggest threat because earth IS a closed environment. And the polluted water that evaporates is the polluted water that rains in our already polluted lakes, rivers streams and underground water tables. I'm sure you're going to ignore that this is real. At least you'll be happier.

There's tons more, enjoy and good luck.

Interesting theory. How does it take into account that the rates of pollution have reached a peak and far less than what they used to be, and are going lower? You do realize, don't you, that there's no limit to the amount of freshwater an industrialized society can create, using clean energy sources, right? Also, you appear to be assuming that Malthus was correct, or any of his later disciples now resident on the pants-wetting left. Needless to say, while the gloomers and the doomers change their bloomers very often indeed, none of their predictions ever come true.

The biggest threat to anyone or any groups is group panic based on sensationalized media hype and their own ignorance.

HMMMM... what to say?

How about, I think Bill Frist might need help with his diaper. Why don't you go see about raising some funds so he can get some clean huggies?
