... on how much they're going to need to save in order to pay for their health insurance? There are going to be a lot of middle class people who currently don't have health insurance who will be required to buy it next year (or pay a fine) under Obamacare. I'm concerned that the government isn't giving enough advanced warning on just how obscene the cost of health insurance is going to be to most of those people. This is going to hit a lot of people instantly, and I haven't heard the government once publicly say how much those people will be paying for their health insurance.

No one really knows what the premium costs will be at this point...it's different in each state, and right now we just have a bunch of estimates. The insurance companies are just now forming their insurance offerings and cost. We won't really know until October 1st, when all the premium costs will be set.

If you make under 400% of the poverty level, your costs will be fixed as a percentage of your income. You can do some research now and find out what your costs will be, then you will know how much you need in 2014.

If you make over 400% of the poverty level you can use some of the online insurance calculator estimators to give a rough prediction of your costs, but you'll have to wait until Oct 1st to see what the real costs are.
