The bottom will be falling out for america if the gop gets control of the government, especially with folks like Abbott in leadership positions. Maybe he can pull the border stunt again with commerce making the whole country suffer and then claim to be an inflation fighter.
 
Is Ted Cruz one of your "folks like Abbott"?

It will be either Cruz or DeSantis in 2024 and the Senate map heavily favors Republicans. 2021-2022 was the time for Democrats to show what they could do.

Cruz and DeSantis are both like Abbott. Hell three quarters of the gop is now like those three folks. Sad.

Retaining one house, taking fewer losses than expected in the other….in a year where historically the party in office takes big losses?

They did show what they could do. It resulted in 'the Bottom Completely Falling out for Democrats'. That result being completely self inflicted and the height of irony.

A big win for the Democrats is holding onto a 50/50 tie and only losing 25ish seats in the House.

That's the bottom not falling out. It could be much worse and the spread of the generic ballot suggests that it will be.
