I think this question needs to be asked based on the arguments made in my previous poll. Some people just didn't see the relevance to why patriotism would be associated with where one puts their money.
Romney has tax havens in foreign banks for the purpose of avoiding US taxes.
He has made his money and taken advantage of the prosperity that the US allows him, yet he sets up foreign bank accounts to avoid paying the taxes on the money he earned here.
So the question is: Is paying your taxes Patriotic?
Remember, this is someone running for the highest (suppose to be) most respected position in the world.
NO sir.. you seem to miss the point. I am not debating weather or not it is illegal. I fully realize that you can do this legally and many people do. The question Mr.Turtledude is not weather it is illegal or not, Is this patriotic, is this moral, is this fulfilling your duty as a United States citizen, is this something that a PRESIDENT should be doing?

ABSOLUTELY!!! Every red blooded freedom loving patriotic american should pay Exactly what is owed and not one penny more. This means using EVERY legal deduction and loophole, and pushing the gray area envelope to the absolute maximum. The supreme court even supports me on this matter.
btw-the party that wins elections when lots of people are under educated is the same party that has the teachers' unions as major organs
see the problem?
Yes. The problem is that your statement makes no sense since teachers are some of the highesteducatedcredentialed people in America and the very essence of their job is to educate others.
Fixed that for you.
Fixed that for you.
true, study after study-several of which I gave to haymarket over a year ago, demonstrate that pub school teachers tend to come from the bottom of the academic barrel in public state universities.
One cannot help but notice that instead of linking to those so that the other readers can see if such data truly says what you maintain what is says, all you do is make a statement and expect the world to accept your pontifications.
Why is that?
because if you didn't bother to read and learn the links I gave you over a year ago, I doubt you are going to do it now. I don't believe in wasting effort and I also understand history-and I therefore am not cursed to repeat it
You apparently have no respect for the American university system which bestows Bachelors and Masters and even Doctorate degrees upon millions of teachers across the land only after they have met and satisfied the rigorous requirements established by those institutions of higher learning.
That is sad.
You're going to have to sell that line to someone who isn't in the American university system. I'm wrapping up a masters now and it's embarrassing, the lack of intellectual rigor. Daily I have to restrain myself from tearing at some of my idiot classmates, who nonetheless will pass and go on to get their degrees. My harder undergrad classes were more difficult (though admittedly I went to a decent private undergrad school, and am now at a "public"). I have multiple friends as well who have been through their Education Masters in the last 5 years, and they were even more embarrassed. One of them who is currently in his second year is a law school grad. Apparently he bothers to do the little bit of reading assigned, and therefore is ahead of the vast majority of his classmates.
Education majors typically are the lowest-performing students, and Education programs are the ones that do the most grade-inflation. So long as you can master the art of managing to show up to class you are halfway there. Yeah, the Education field has definitely mistaken credentials for education and competence over the past couple of decades.
It is unfortunate that you did not chose wisely in where you obtained your education. You have my sympathies.
 you mean that I went with a public school for my masters degree?
Nah, plenty of my friends who went into education (which was the main destination for my group) went to the Private School Of Note For The Northern Half Of The State For Education. They report the same thing. Low standards where there are any.
I agree.especially if those taxes pay a lavish lifestyle for the....elected and their friends.as is the case. No, paying every dollar of your taxes isn't "patroitic". Avoiding taxes isn't "patriotic" either.
The action of paying ones taxes or not paying ones taxes or seeking deductions to ones taxes is not an inherently patriotic endevour.

The problem with that thinking is, "twice the price" leads to a second rate country. Do you want to live under these conditions, Cap?That's one thing that has always amazed me. You got all these "God Bless America", flag waving, lapel pin wearing "true patriots" over at FOX (and even here at DP) nonstop whining about the price it costs to live in the best nation on the planet. Wah, wah, wah.
Living in the USofA is worth it at twice the price. Love it or leave it.

Is this really your stance, or are you just being facetious ?Paying your taxes makes you a loser.
How much of a loser you are depends on how many taxes you pay.
People who pressure others to pay taxes and take pride in humility are predators who need to be put in their place.
