Cavaliers General Manager Danny Ferry recently fired Coach Mike Brown. A coach getting fired at the end of a season that didn't result in a Championship, and that did hold some in-season drama is nothing new. But what I've found a bit odd about it all is that Coach Mike Brown currently highest the highest winning percentage (.663) of any Cavaliers coach.

The conclusion that is made about this decision is that with Lebron James, Mike Brown should have been able to win an NBA Title. Lebron James is undoubtably a great player and one of the most athletic players the NBA has ever seen. Most media hypes Lebron James as the heir to Michael Jordan's throne; James was born the same year Jordan was a rookie (1984).

One way to view this is that Coach Mike Brown's firing put the team at risk because the lottery to find another coach may not result well. He has the highest winning % afterall.
A second way to look at this is that Lebron James' role to the Cleveland Cavaliers is so important that it is necessary to eliminate any staff or players that might stand in his way to becoming an NBA Champion. It took Michael Jordan 7 years to win his first NBA title; James' was drafted in 2003.

A final way to look at this is that King James is overhyped. There can be no heir to the Jordan throne. That James may be a damn good player, but it takes much more than athleticism to win an NBA Title.

What say you..

until he gets a running mate, like pippen was for jordan, lebron isnt going to win a championship...he is very overrated. so was jordan for that matter.

LeBron is like a radioactive substance that kills everything it touches--trust me, Mike Brown is merely going to be the first. From here on out, I'll bet that LeBron doesn't get a single championship for the next two-three years and each defeat will be someone else's fault. Not the King of Basketball's, oh no, always someone else.

lebron is the michael jordan of this era
and danny ferry is a dunce, despite having played at duke
it is danny ferry who is over rated

what? first of all....james came out from high school, unlike jordan. his career stats thus far are stellar, and he's still very much in his prime.

28 ppg and 7 apg for his career are much more than athleticism.

Lebron James is a freak of nature, an awesome athlete. You don't get recruited by the NBA out of high school on hype.

Basketball is a "team" game. One all star does not a championship make. Just ask Dan Marino.

Then why aren't we talking about Dwight Howard being on par with God himself?

The hell it is. Football is team driven, but NBA basketball is completely star-driven. You could add the most talented football player at any position the world has ever seen and not immediately be a Super Bowl favorite. The same cannot be said with basketball. When you find that one true, rare talent in hoops, you are immediately head and shoulders above almost anybody else, which is why the draft lottery in NBA is hyped as much as it is, especially when someone of that potential caliber comes along.

You just don't hear about it this year because it's a weak recruitment class. John Wall is hardly a future all-star in my eyes. Favors out of Jaw-juh Tech has a better chance of that.

The comparison with Jordan is so much crap. Who does James have to deal with today? An aging Boston and San Antonio? Kobe out of his prime? Michael Jordan had to grow up fighting the "Bad Boys" of Detroit and a redonkulous Lakers roster which could easily include 2 of the 5 best men to ever play the sport.

James couldn't hold Jordan's jock. He is, by immense measures, the most overhyped athlete in American sports today, possibly of all time.

jordan couldn't have won without the supporting cast he had. pippen was great, and rodman was rodman.

and don't forget phil jackson.

Pippen was really good, but I think "great" may be a bit too much. And by the time Rodman made it to Chicago, he was just a self-promotion machine.

I remember going to a Pistons game as a kid and getting there early. Rodman was the only person on the floor, hustling for rebounds and working out. He had a work ethic that was unparalleled in sports, up there with Jerry Rice.

By the time he got to San Antonio, he realized that being yourself and working hard wouldn't get you the big bucks and magazine covers. So he starts dying his hair with Kool-Aid and wearing wedding dresses.

When San Antionio got rid of the problem, Chicago essentially just picked up a PR piece with some pretty good skills and a propensity to shoot off his mouth.

No argument about Phil though. LeBron needs a real coach, not a fan like Brown.

Jordan had leadership qualities that were off the charts. You would NEVER see Mike just plain give up like LeBron did in the Celtics series. What respect I gave him before that series is now completely gone.

Your dislike of James is obvious. There is no point arguing with someone who thinks one person can carry any basketball team. :doh

No he isn't overhyped at all. All the great players have had help. Jordan had a great cast around him including two hall-of-famers and a hall-of-fame coach. Kobe had Shaq in his prime and other good role players and also had a hall-of-fame coach.
