A new tv-show in Sweden is coming up soon where they will judge people of how they look, infront of the swedish population. It's called "Hottest in school". The ones who are considered "ugly" have to leave the competition while the good looking ones continue to struggle for the title as "Hottest in school". Is this right to judge people of how they look?

... Right or Wrong?

Ummm I'm gonna say wrong.

No sarcasm directed at the OP more towards the creators of this show.

Ethically and morally wrong but unfortunately it happens all the time.

It's no more right or wrong than any other factors individuals use to form conclusions.

I would say that the issue lies not with the creators of the show, but with the people who compete. There is nothing morally or ethically wrong with judging of looks unless the competitors are being forced to compete. They are knowingly setting themselves up for whatever rejection may occur. If anything, the competitors are morally bankrupt just on account of their extreme vanity.

the i will do anything to be on tv people deserve what they get.

However its a fact of life that good looks indicate good genes therefor people are naturally drawn to them. Its not even a question of right or wrong its just a fact.

Am I to believe that you are saying that good-looking people are better than less attractive people?

But I wholeheartedly agree with you on the "deserve what they get" comment.

Not better actually no better all im saying is goodlooking people get more attention intially when people meet them.Im just kind of saying well people are drawn to goodlooking people not they should or its any reason to.

Its stronger than ever too Look at actors and actresses in hollywood these days i cant think of a leading lady who is at least over averagly goodlooking. Even the older actresses are attractive for their age.Anyone who isnt conventionally goodlooking plays the clown or the bad guy.

I see nothing wrong with it. The competitors know exactly what they're getting into.

I used to believe that it was wrong to judge based on appearance alone because I believed a individual should be judge by actions alone.Appearance however says how well we take care of ourselves, what message we are trying to send to others, how easy someone is,how attention starved someone is and or what effort we are going to put into something. For example here is a before and after picture of a meth user which is a indication of past and current actions.

Cripes, Deej! I don't know which one's worse!
Let's see here... gruesome 1980s hairdo on the one hand, versus gruesome receding gumlines on the other. :thinking

Anyway, yeah. Bad habits take their toll, that's for sure. And meth, god knows, is probably the worst. Most of the meth fiends I've known have had this wretched habit of picking holes in their skin, so they go around with these awful sores and scabs on their faces and bodies. At least the meth fiend in your picture appears to have found a way to abstain from picking holes in herself. I thought that was a pretty much universal trait of meth addicts.

The picture is only of her face, she could be picking holes in other parts of her body.
