Joking about killing men is quite acceptable in some liberal/feminist circles. Several messages an hour with #killallmen hashtag appear on Twitter. An account with 11,000 posters recently had the following:

we need to rise up and kill straight men in the streets. They deserve violence at this point in history...

Ladies slice ya man face up tonight and tell him The Revolution is here.

Recently a popular Canadian Feminist site called Feminist Current featured an article We need a mandemic:

What can be done? Well, I’ve decided the Earth needs a Mandemic. The human herd must be culled, and it’s time for buck season.

There could be a virus that causes gene mutations in men that rewrites their DNA. Then, when men have sex with women, they are drained of their DNA, “where it is then implanted into females, causing the death of the males. As a result, new males are constantly created and harvested” by women, as suits their needs.

Ok. You probably do love men. Most women have some men in their lives that they dearly love. There are tons of wonderful men! So sure, it will be sad and tragic when the Mandemic rages with the fire of a thousand suns and randomly selects enough male victims to disrupt the current power structure around the world. This will be necessary to create an opening for women to become equal — maybe even dominant.

But isn’t our only hope the removal of excessive male humans from the continents?

The book "Are Men Necessary" was a bestseller in 2005.

Some great minds of our time think that men who complain about such jokes are paranoid.

If there's anything that we can depend upon the males who look down on women as being angry/emotional/etc., it is being angry/emotional/etc. themselves.

Seriously, have you never heard of satire?

If men wrote such ``satire" about women they would be at least blacklisted and possibly arrested and prosecuted in places like UK or Canada.

Ok, so make the piece about women and tell me what you think.

Bless your heart!

It's definitely hateful, but I don't know about hate speech specifically. She does her "cause" (whatever that is) more harm than good.

1: who gives a **** about twitter.

2: I do not believe in hate speech.

3: who gives a **** what some anonymous random person on the internets says?

4: Hyperbole sucks, but most people can recognize it.

5: twitter + random person = who gives a flying ****

I don't really care what some idiot on Twitter has to say.

Let her say her stupid opinions.

2: I do not believe in hate speech.

I can see. I am 100% against censorship.

Would hate from those who support Political Correctness strengthen the case for allowing all offensive speech.

100 %? So if some one takes pictures in the window of your daughter changing, he should be able to post them online? How about kiddy porn? Would you censor that? If you would, then you are not 100 % against censorship. Should we get rid of libel laws?

Would hate from those who support Political Correctness strengthen the case for allowing all offensive speech.

Offensive speech is allowed. Where have you been?

So you wouldn't be complaining if it was about women? Yeah, I don't believe you.

That's not how this works. You gotta make me a serious offer if you want me to write something controversial. ;)

I'm not going to offer you anything. If you don't want to be honest that is your business.

Honestly, it's getting a little old to continually be told that folks don't really mean what they plainly say. Iranians don't really mean it when they chant "Death to America". Hamas doesn't really want to eradicate Israel. Sanders isn't really a socialist and now certain women wishing for the death of a lot of men are just playing. If folks are going to say hateful things, they can't be surprised or be pissy that other folks think they're hateful.

I have no clue what you are referring to in your first two examples, nor do I care. The Sanders is a socialist one is not untrue, it is incomplete, and intentionally so. Thank you for playing, please come fail again.

Welp, guess that means no deal. Bummer. And here I was thinking I could pad my income a little.

Anything said on Twitter should be taken with a grain of salt. That being said, it often isn't. And it only seems that certain people are targeted when they say things. Let's put it this way, if I wrote about killing all women, or telling men to go home and beat their women, I would be treated much differently than these people have been. Also, don't even get me started on the idea that a book about the eradication of women would ever become a best seller. There is really nothing satirical about stating these things. If you think its satire, you have a really poor understanding of what satire is.

No one should be getting arrested for it, although I know in certain European countries, things like this are already happening. Especially when it goes against the modern PC agenda.

I chose "a progressive voice for equality", but I interpreted that as a negative PC definition. The 'PC' part being that it'd be deemed ok for some to do, but not in return, which falls right in line with today's progressive mindset.

Did you just dismiss your own opinion?

# 3 does to an extent, depending on the reader. Since I am to an extent known around here, I am not really random, but for newer posters, sure.

No , no I do not find it to be hate speech . If the same people who make such jokes , but get offended if the same kind of humor is applied to them it is hypocriticalike.

Depends on the joke, but in the case of the OP quote it seems to lean towards the hate speech part of the continuum.

This is a case where the subject of the "satire" is what differentiates between hate speech and progressive enlightenment. If you substitute all references of man/men/males with any ethnicity or socially preferred group (i.e LGBT, women, minorities, muslims, etc) then it would be hate speech. Because this is about men, though, it is enlightened progressive speech that is unassailable.
