To be honest, I don’t think there’s an exit off this roller coaster until this thing goes off the rails and it’s a crash and then we start counting bodiesHearing this word or that word is pointless bullshit. Meanwhile, there has been a coup by fascists. You took the bait from MAGA and are all up in arms over Trump being like what they accused Biden of. Try to stay focused on the crimes, not some stupid oh, the old dude has dementia. FFS with all of what MAGA Republicans have done you think attacking Ttrump like this is going to do a damn thing? Stop acting as if this is just another election that you have to disbarge the Republican incumbent. This is why attacking the person is bad debate form; it only gives them an excuse. And you fell for it.
I didn't vote neither I don't participate in silly polls anymore.Doesn't look like you voted to me. It's only about whether he said thing A or thing B. There's a million other threads to discuss everything else trump related.
He says or, because that is what it sounds like, and then you don't have to make up dumb excuses for why you think he says but. Occam's razor. If it's equally likely to be either, but one makes actual sense in context, and the other needs a crazy excuse or confirms a bias, it's most probable that he said what makes sense. He says "but".
I think he misspoke, because his goal has obviously been to AVOID global confrontations and NOT to spread "Democracy" through armed interventions. Diplomatic? Probably.
Stop obsessing.
If it doesn't matter, that's what the other thread is for. The point of this thread is that it does matter because we have vastly different perceptions about it and this could happen with something that does matter and it would be helpful to have had previous experience deciphering this shit.Let's get real here. It really doesn't matter what he said because Trump is not a serious person. Kermit The Frog gave a better commencement speech than Trump could ever give.
Conjunctions matter. Look at how the meaning can change with just that one little word for another.only Trump could trigger a thread over which word he used in a commencement speech.. Context is 100% "or/nor"
Dude, he clearly says "but". It sounds nothing like "or".He says or, because that is what it sounds like, and then you don't have to make up dumb excuses for why you think he says but. Occam's razor. THANK you. That's what I've been trying to tell people.
I don't think this is the McGurk effect since I can hear both "but" or "or" depending on which one I'm thinking about, even when I close my eyes. That's the McGurk Effect...
An auditory illusion.
Post 15 above
I think in this case it's less about Trump and more of a fascination of how half the people listening can confidently say they hear one word, and the other half can confidently say they hear a different word.only Trump could trigger a thread over which word he used in a commencement speech.. Context is 100% "or/nor"

It's not clearly, or more people wouldn't hear or.Dude, he clearly says "but". It sounds nothing like "or".
Watched it. In the video he is distinctly saying "ba", but when you change the video so that it looks like he is saying "fa", you hear that instead. When you close your eyes and remove the visual cue, you now hear "ba" again. They describe that in the video. That is the effect.
I agree with the context, but this surprisingly does not seem to be about Trump beyond some more heavily biased comments. It appears to have more to do with which word people are focused on when watching. It's rather fascinating.only Trump could trigger a thread over which word he used in a commencement speech.. yes it became an interesting thread -much more then the OP topic itselfI agree with the context, but this surprisingly does not seem to be about Trump beyond some more heavily biased comments. I ran it through AI several times and it also cannot distinguish between "or" and "but" which has me laughing pretty hard now. It seems we'll never know which it is with 100% certainty.yes it became an interesting thread -much more then the OP topic itself
