It's beyond question that many Muslim jihadists believe the Koran not only sanctions but requires the violence against unbelievers they engage in. Parts of it and parts of the hadiths are their inspiration. The fact that most Muslims in the world are not violent does not show that Islam teaches nonviolence. It could well be that they are just not very observant, like a large percentage of people who consider themselves Christians.

It was neither democratic nor a republic.

I think. Don't really know all that much about it. But my understanding is that I was basically a puppet of the USSR.
