Terror continues to flourish under Obama. The JV team has the US on high alert, and has been prevented from bombing innocent Americans in major US cities this week. The govt states that law enforcement and military members are targets for attack over the 4th of July weekend. Terrorists have struck in France and north africa this week, killing the innocent civilians of our allies.

Not only has Obama continued a policy of failure fighting ISIS (token airstrikes which by definition can not win wars, and only assure our enemies resolve), he is now preventing our arab allies from fighting terrorists with the tools needed (heavy weapons).

He lost the peace in Iraq, and is repeating the same blunder in Afghanistan. His leaders, current and former have stated what is being done is failing.

And yet despite this wave of terror expansion, our president refuses to change course.

Is fighting terror a priority for Obama?

Obama intends only to provide token support to fighting the war on terror until he's out of office, at which point its no longer his problem.

He is a weak president.

Some could conclude that Obama himself is a greater immediate threat to America than Islamic terror.

He likes bombing countries with terrorists in them.

It is a rather massive criminal activity that targets Americans and is destabilizing whole regions in a time of turmoil and change, while our wealth declines in relative terms. Power is shifting and global war is becoming more and more probable. There has been little progress fashioning a robust supranational security system to prevent ww3. We have a number of existantial priorities, but terrorism is not the most ominous.

Yes. But I couldn't answer your poll. You don't have a category for a centrist.

At least we agree that war is more probable. This is the inevitable outcome of a weak president.

As long as we have a military industrial complex too big for peace, you will have presidents incapable of winning or even completing a war. Terrorism is way better for arms sales and support services than the Cold War ever was.

Look, there's no money in curing disease... Only in treating it forever.
No one is ever going to change abortion or the right loses its base vote
No one is going to make meaningful gun reform, same reason as above.. Only on the left
And wars are no longer caught to be won... They are fraught to increase profits and share price.

So go ahead, keep beating yourselves over the head with partisan rancor... It's not right vs left... It's the people vs corruption.

Spare me your conspiracy theories.

I practice medicine and would cure my patients in a heartbeat if I could.

I wonder whats wrong with you to have such a view of man.

You seek to explain the world through what you know-and when it does not make sense-its time for bizarre conspiracies.

Shame on you.

And as a particularly ironic little pearl, you have chosen the name "Occam's razor".

Ask me how its ironic.

Do not care about the Middle East or fighting a war for Israel...

We need to leave the area alone and let these savages to kill each other.

I have the same dim view, it's not the doctors it the billionaires. You doctors will never have the opportunity to administer a cure as long as those that profit off the treatments exist. We are witnessing the sixth great extinction event and there is only one thing driving it. Profits.

You can't be serious!

There is no conspiracy theory... It's called American capitalism. Are the corporations within the military industrial complex non-profits? A they not just as focused on growth as any other company? How does a company whose business model and growth depend on war, instability, conflict.. How do they sustain growth if peace broke out all over the world? Do you think they'd gladly fold up shop, let their stocks slide to zero?

It's only when you strip away fanatical party passions and knee jerk responses, it's only when y employ Occam's razor, that begin to see the FACTS. Is the RAD document conspiracy? Regardless of who has been in power since its publishing, it has been followed to the letter. It's not conspiracy, it's fact.

As for your alleged practicing of medicine, I don't practice, but am close with several medical practitioners. They battle chronic disease, not by prescribing drugs, but in encouraging lifestyle changes... Reducing or eliminating the need for things like cholesterol Rx, insulin, blood pressure Rx, etc. chronic disease can be cured, reversed and greatly diminished... But most doctors just write scripts, throw their hands in the air, collect their fee and tell their patients they'll be on those drugs the rest of their lives.

Shame on for abdicating your first duty as a patriot, to remain skeptical and vigilant of your gov't (not just the other party), resist party passion that burns brighter than love of your fellow countrymen.

Occam's razor, the simplest explanation that accounts for all observations is the right one.

For profit company
Must increase profit to increase share value
Must have conflict to grow.

Doesn't take a rocket surgeon...

Another swing and a miss....

LOL. I'm a 47 year old researcher. Please, explain to me the magical properties of a defense contractor that allow it to NOT grow its business. Explain to me how, prior to the MIC we won wars... decisively, yet have not won a decisive victory since despite the largest, most capable military.

But you keep deluding yourselves that energy and defense contractors don't seek to destabilize regions for fun and profit. Keep deluding yourselves that the RAD document, the culmination of 40 years of work and planning doesn't exist and hasn't been followed,to the letter. A 96 page document that would have been a complete waste of paper had it not been for 9-11.. Which the document also called for.

These are facts. Not theory.

No offense but its a myth people who dont know better come up with to explain things. You have to understand how enormously complex the human body is, there is much we still dont know. Pharmacology is still enormously complex and we STILL dont know why some drugs appear to work.

To be fair, people use these conspiracy theories to explain many other things they dont know about as well.

Of course lifestyle factors are addressed first-diet, exercise, but then again many patients dont do those things and even when they do, some dont respond adequately. Medicine is practiced least invasive to most invasive-and these things are less invasive and generally cheaper than drugs. Only then are drugs considered, and even then generally they are reevaluated at checkups to see if the medicine is effective, if its dosage should be changed, if there are alternatives that may be better (based on cost, convenience, etc). Some patients will be on those meds for life, unless they accept the risks of not taking them, and as it works out, drugs are quite effective. Also most of the drugs used in common chronic disease is fairly cheap.

Marxist fail, all around.

And apparently it might take a rocket surgeon-because your definition of Occam's razor is about as accurate as your delusions.
Its not that the simplest explanation is the right one-indeed if it was perhaps your bizarre conspiracies would be true.
Its that the explanation with the fewest assumptions is the most likely to be correct.
You have the disney channel, public school, marxist corruption of his razor.
And its ironic because you are demonstrating quite well how that corruption fails in reality.

When 911 hit, I briefly came out of retirement to cover the fascinating story of people, Canadians, who opened their homes to stranded American travelers caught when US air space was shut down. The comments of both the passengers and home owners where striking, the travelers not sure they wanted to be "home" just yet, but deeply, sometimes in tears for Americans they had never met.

At the time i also interviewed a sociology prof at UBC, who commented on the social aspect of tragedy, and he closed with an amazing statement, to the effect, as time goes by the threat is perceived to have lessened, people would revert to type. That as news of the war turned negative like Vietnam, or dragged on without noticeable progress "they will begin fighting each other again, it is a matter of time."

What I have seen is the most united country I have ever witnessed in the wake of 911 become the most divided along with one side no longer believing there is a threat....just like the Clinton administration that chose to lob missiles at Osama and accept the fact they missed. That is not the America that won the Pacific theatre in 1945.

Greetings, F&L. :2wave:

Bombing an aspirin factory? There must have been an big error in communications there!

LMAO... ROF... That's exactly what I said... The simplest explanation that accounts for all observations... This precludes and excludes any assumptions. If you add assumptions and speculation to the simplest explanation of observation, it's not simple anymore.

You are adding that somehow, defense contractors, their well documented abuse of the system and war profiteering, that their shareholders are ok with fewer sales than the year before, that their executives are happy with smaller bonuses. These are polyamide delusions of severe extreme party indoctrination. The same corporate ethos that bright down the world economy is at play in the MIC. AND NO LESS DANGEROUS.

Somehow the MIC is benign and altruistic above all other stock price chasing, profit whoring major corp?
Banks and complicit gov't bring down the world economy and rape the middle class
Big energy creative accounting brings down the western energy market and rapes the working class of vested pensions
Major telecoms creative accounting fleeces shareholders and retirement investments worth tens of billions
Pharma engages in unethical practices to push drugs few really need, creating a class of side-effect disorder victims

But defense contractors... They're just patriots. With unprecedented influence over policy and payment. Do you think their mindset is anything but, sell, sell, sell...? Just look at Hillary's mess. She's about to get pants'd over providing weapons to terrorist factions in Libya and Syria.

It's not conspiracy theory, it's american economic theory.

Now, I'm all for capitalism... But I'm also smart enough to revere the wisdom of the founders in looking through the 8000 years of human history and acknowledging factual, historical constants. Large standing armies bankrupt states. Checks and balances must exist to protect against our inherent flaws as human beings, greed, lust, ambition, etc. unrestrained capitalism has always led to disaster. Capitalism is the greatest so far devised, but not all its forms are good.

If that makes me Marxist and not an objective realist in your radicalized mind, so be it. If I'm a Marxist, so were the founders.

Not what you said. You said
Occam's razor, the simplest explanation that accounts for all observations is the right one.

Nobody is denying that defense contractors are a business concern and look out for their own best interests. Its always been that way.
To then make the leap that this somehow means wars are fought because of this is flawed, and descends into conspiracy theory land. There are many other factors, many different competing interests-for this inference to be made. Occam would roll his eyes at your thought process.

Its amazing. Just look at the lefty responses in this thread, they are all based around bizarre conspiracy theories none of which account for the reality of the situation. Its a "false" threat, its the MIC, its to scare people, its because I "want it to happen", but at no point is the thought entertained that it might be a legitimate threat worthy of vigilance.
