So the GOP is on a losing streak from hell. Their failed economic policies led us into the great recession. They have lost every culural debate you can think of and it getting worse all the time with gay marriage, pot legalization, abortion, voter ID laws being declared unconstitutional and the countries overall switch to le left. The GOP is having a hard time in their own ranks on Immagration with the far right wanting the status quo when the hispanic vote killed them last fall.

With all the bad news the GOP had one last hope. Darrell Issa the witch hunter that brought down Grey Davis. He was going to bring down the Obama whitehouse without the GOP having to stop being far right wing morons. They thought they not only could bring down Obama but Hillary while they where at it. We should have known. Issa is the Joe McCarty of our times and like Joe his witch hunts have fallen short just like everything else the GOP has done over the last 13 years. Nice try GOP. i guess you are going to have to change your ways after all.

Evidence says McCarthy was right. Issa probably is too.

The same is true then as it is now. You have the right to be a communist and a witch hunt for a legal political party was fascism in the first degree. We all say what haapened to Alan West when he accosed the house dem's of being communist or socialist. He was voted out of office in conservative SC. Issa had high hopes for scandal and now he has sunk so low as to hold back facts and call the press security a paid liar. That does not sound like a winner to me. Yes the GOP is in some serous trouble and that is fact.

You've got a DoJ investigating reporters for being spy's and an IRS stonewalling applications based on ideological persuasion and the NSA snooping on EVERYBODY yet it's the GOP that's acting like McCarthy?

It must hurt to twist around so much that you can get you head so solidly implanted.

Somebody needs to go to jail. Wonders who gets thrown under the next bus?

How many more times can the GOP afford to screw up before they become a minority party? Issa's witch hunts are a failure so now the GOP will have to face its real demons like the country shifting to the left on social issues. The GOP getting their heads handed to them with the female and hispanic vote. They are not going to get the easy way out by drummung up scandal. Too bad.

BWHAHAHAHAHAH!

Exhibit A for why the GOP will go extinct sooner as opposed to later. Total dissociation from history and reality.

Populaity only matters in the first term and have you seen the nations view on the GOP and even worse yet the house GOP? Scandal is not going to cut itmy friend. I guess your party is going to have to change after all.

Like when they say fascist where left wingers when they where so anti communist. I think they need to retake history.

And again using history's wrongs to justify your fascism today? No shoker in that one. I disagree with McCarthy's use of legal prosecution on communist - to me just pointing them out would be fine. I find those who put "community" in their "lean" here to be honorable and good people - its those who hide behind the fascist "very liberal" tag you need to worry about.

Right about what? That communism and socialism are political philosophies espoused by people in this country? Of course. That communism is somehow equated with treason and hatred of the US? Of course not.

Hoping the GOP goes extinct so you can replay the good ol' days might not be what you expect.

Frankly, being partisan these days is the equivalent of being a moron...fighting for one side while BOTH f$%K you.

At the time it was a punishable crime to be a communist. People went to prison for it. I don't think that was the right way to do it, but today we have people unable to admit their socialist and communist beliefs they hide and pretend to be progressives or liberals. I don't agree with that point of history, but history recorded McCarthy as wrong in saying they were among us; and the facts are clear he was wright - they were. Issa merely has proven gross incompetence on the part of government losers so far, and I really don't see whay the left has a problem with him making sure laws were not broken? Clearly the left wanted to make to see if the laws were broken when V. Plame was "outed" and yet that was admitted too but no one went to jail for that crime (only lying about it). The hyprocrisy of the left in defense of their chosen leader is pathetic, its sad, and it borders on fascism.

This. Apparently, if you subscribe to a communist / Socialistic philosophy, you automatically hate America, want to make Washington, D.C. the new Red Square, and want to raise a "Hammer and Sickle" from the Capitol. ... Damn capitalist pig-dogs. I don't even like those philosophies and I think that line of thinking is asinine.

You also have "capitalists" who ignore corporate socialism as well. And you can also think (in large part) the RW media for making the term "Liberal" synonymous with "Socialist."

I don't agree with that point of history, but history recorded McCarthy as wrong in saying they were among us; and the facts are clear he was wright - they were.

So what? End justifies the means?

Both border on fascism in certain places. For the RW, see Santorum and theocratic fascism with SSM and Abortion.

Actively working for the interests of an enemy country within the united states government is literally the definition of treason.

Of course people should be free to believe whatever ideology they wish without persecution, but the government must protect itself from espionage and infiltration.

You're being too one-track minded. A Socialist / communist, even in McCarthy's time, did not automatically support the USSR or any other communist state that was a US opponent. For instance, I can be pro-capitalism yet still not support (and even denounce) American capitalism. Who also says Nationalism cannot trump political philosphy?

I stated clearly in the second sentence-paragraph that people should be free to believe whatever ideology they wish without prosecution. I support the Government's efforts to find and prosecute foreign infiltrators, not the persecution of a specific ideology.

It's important, I think, to distinct between the two.

Problem was - or so it seems - was that the two were seen as one in the same. For instance, McCarthy stated: "Today we are engaged in a final, all-out battle between communistic atheism and Christianity."

Sure. I'm not necessarily defending McCarthy. I know a few of the people they went after were spies. Going after spies and, in this case, corruption should not be something we abandon simply because McCarthy made it more ideological than it should be. We can learn from him without going crazy with it.

Or could the problem be that we think we can learn, when in reality, we can't?

Yeah, that's one of their recent crazyazz memes. It's right up there with the teleprompter meme, the vacation meme, the birther meme, the Barney Frank caused the housing bubble meme, and so forth.

What about the morons in the house trying to repeal Obama care 38 times knowing it has no chance to pass the senate and waisting time and money. What about the abortion morons in the house passsing a abortion law that stands no chance of passing the senate and if it does the president will veto and the court will call unconstitutional. Another waiste of time and tax payer money. I think that moron tag rest on the right wing and American opinion supports that fact. %2% support legal8zation of marijuana. 58% now support gay marriage and 70 want Roe vs Wade to stand. The right is losing on every front and you have the nerve to call liberals morons. Get a clue.

ing others made it even worse.

The thing that made Tailgunner Joe look like a moron was his witch hunt was indiscriminate and destroyed people who where or where not communist. The fact that old Joe was a freaking drunk and a major hypocrite who had no business judge others morality made it even worse.
