Is America in constant election mode??

The answer is yes. It began when Bill Clinton announced his candidacy way early, which was followed by George Bush having already amassed a hug war chest nobody could compete with by the time he announced his candidacy. Then came Obama who opted out of public financing so he would not face spending caps which has lead to the lid blowing off the pressure cooker and people needing insane amount of money just to get to Super Tuesday, let alone the convention or general election. On the plus side, there is no need to allocate part of your taxes to contribute to the Presidential Election Campaign in that box on your taxes anymore :)
