Unable to push Amnesty for illegal aliens through a Republican Congress, Bush now seems to be making a deal with Nancy Pelosi which will allow it to happen. Bush's legacy could very well be making an invasion of the United States perfectly legal.

Article is here.

Can we really even do anything about those already here, it sems pretty hopeless to me? We might as well just put our energy behind this new wall, and enforcing our borders, I won't be satisfied until the numbers crossing are cut by at least 75%. That said, I just think it will cost us even more time and money to worry too much about who is already here, this could be better spent in stopping the leak in our border.

Bush is certainly going to side with an amnesty type law, he has said as much before, I doubt he will change his mind.

This is what you voted for in the mid-terms, the people get the government they deserve.

Sorry TOT, (the people get the government they deserve) this is not quite correct.
The people actually get the Government they elect, this does not mean they get the Government they deserve.
Let me explain,
People tend to vote for different things, they can vote as a positive for the Party because they are supporters of that party and always vote the party line, regardless of which Jackass that party puts up for election / re-election.
Or, they vote for a candidate whom they (believe) will forward whatever views they prefer.
Other people vote as a rebuke for an opposing candidate as they believe that the candidate they would normally vote for has been dishonest or the party to which that candidate belongs has not managed the business of running Congress as the voter would have preferred.

So the voter is voting as a dissenter or as a proposer.

And Houston will be totally screwed. Want to know what illegals are doing today? The hotel workers unions, which consist of more than 50% illegals, are on strike, and they are blockading traffic downtown, and virtually bringing some blocks of the city to a standstill. Want to know what kind of flag the strikers are flying? A big Mexican flag, thats what.

So now, they are here illegally, breaking more laws, and freaking daring the government to do something about it. If I were President, you know what I would do? Send in the National Guard, arrest every damn one of them, take away their Mexican flag and burn it right in front of them, sort out the illegals from the legals, and after they ALL do their jail sentences for tresspassing and obstruction of traffic, boot the illegals back across the border. If they come back, and are caught again, send them to prison for 5 years before booting them back across the border. While in prison, we can put them to work as slave laborers, so that they dont suck our money with their three hots and cots.

The good part is, the hotels which illegally hired the illegals are losing money hand over fist, which serves them right. On second thought, I would let the illegals do their thing for another week or 2 before sending in the National Guard, just to send a strong message to the hotel owners.

Anyone else as sick as I am about the lack of civility, basically the fact that Bush and Pelosi just say that the trash talk was politics and now they try to get this bill passed? Anyway, that is an aside...

I think that this bill is the one and only thing that Bush will cooperate on, and Pelosi was smart to recognize it. The Senate version of the bill, however, will be one of extreme, and I mean extreme, compromise. Look for it to be similar to the one that was passed previously...sorta. It will focus far more on the security aspect of illegal immigration rather than paths to citizenship.

This is a path to citizenship initiative, not amnesty, and I wish people would realize that.
