Ireland tells Moscow live-fire naval exercise is 'not welcome'

I don’t think the Russians are too scared about a military response from the EU.
EU is not a military force or organization.

It's thoroughly civilian society, economy, communications and transportation.

NATO is the military organization that long preceded EU. While Biden is shy to deploy more troops abroad Europe is not Afghanistan. Europe being what it is, Biden placing 8500 US troops in the USA on a "high alert" is only the beginning of increased deployments to Europe, to include equipment, supplies, sustainment.

Putin wants to break up NATO by exploiting the inherently flawed Germany and chase the US out of Europe. Being the dictator that Putin is however he's bumbling into causing Europe & the USA to beef up US military presence for the long term. Indeed, after two world wars and the long and slogging Cold War the US isn't going anywhere, and certainly not because of the current Russo-German Geostrategic Axis.

The USA is profoundly invested in Europe so it's not going away while Putin can only covet it as a number of Russian leaders have done over history. And Europe's history with Russia is a lousy one with only a couple of decent Russian "The Great" leaders. Plus leaders on both sides of the pond need to recognize the always dangerous and foolhardy relationship between Russia & Germany. It's been nothing but a series of partnering in which one betrays the other in their shared disastrous obsession to dominate the continent and one another.

Thank you for your verbose screed that has practically nothing to do with Ireland.

But a civilian point of view irt Ireland is welcomed.

Yeah, I live in the EU. I know what it is.

Irish fishermen are going to swarm the Russian flotilla of naval ships to block 'em.

The Russian Navy is going to learn how to look stupid and helpless....

Irish Fishermen Plan Showdown With Russian Navy

A group of Irish fishermen plan to take a stand against the Russian Navy and disrupt their upcoming military exercises off the coast of Cork next month. Ireland’s fishing industry has already taken “as much as it can possibly take” and is not about to let Russia’s Navy harm important marine life, said Patrick Murphy, chief executive of the Irish South and West Fish Producers Organization. In comments to RTÉ radio’s Morning Ireland, Murphy said the drills posed a threat to the “livelihood” of the whole industry and any artillery fire could drastically change the marine environment for years to come. “It’s our waters. Can you imagine if the Russians were applying to go onto the mainland of Ireland to go launching rockets, how far would they get with that?” Murphy said. He told Politico separately that fishermen would head out to the area of the military drills on Feb. 1, and “if that is in proximity to where the [military] exercise is going, we are expecting that the Russian naval services abide by the anti-collision regulations.”

Murphy said they'll maintain a constant presence of 60 fishing boats amidst the several Russian Navy ships. Russian Navy has a new cable cutting ship that's cut Norway's undersea sensors twice and now the Russian Navy has moved to this spot off Ireland where undersea internet cables connect Europe to N. America, to include bank transactions, communications, commerce, industry and so on. This activity says Russia in going into Ukraine and is taking measures to retaliate against any possible NATO military response, which is highly unlikely of course. NATO is not going to make a military response.

More Litwin stupid talk.

Ulus = Russia is stupid.

And your link has nothing to do with the subject.

Why don't you enlist in the Ukraine military if you are so interested in the defense of Ukraine?

Its our waters ,

That would be a lie.

1. You aren't Ireland.
2. International waters.

you fav. ulus belongs to China

That would be a lie.

1. Ulus =/= Russia.
2. China does not own Russia.

You really fail at Geography, History and international law.

Biden is saying that if Russia invades Ukraine as it's indicating, it will be the largest military operation in Europe since World War II. Swallowing a sovereign nation state that is oriented toward the West to include the EU and NATO.

Indeed, this is about Russia much more than it is about Ukraine. Or about NATO. Or the U.S.

Although Ukraine is not a NATO member it's catching holy Russian hell for just making noises about it and doing some exploratory actions. So the US led NATO knows and is moving decisively to impose "crippling" costs on Russia to include a post invasion well organized and supported Ukraine Resistance. NATO is right next door to Ukraine so the Resistance will have strong and constant, consistent, support, Germany's blatant and shameless preference for Moscow notwithstanding.

Time for Russia to pay and to pay dearly. And for Germany to get taken to the woodshed.
