Yup, it was Sunni members of the Iraqi military who kidnapped the diplomat. To those who accused our own military of doing this, I hope an apology is coming from you soon.

The article also says, "U.S. forces in Iraq have arrested a number of Iranians, including diplomats, in the past two months, and are still holding five Iranians."

With that in mind, it would seem like a logical deduction that US forces also kidnapped the Iranian diplomat, even though they claim they didn't do this one particular kidnapping. Not that they don't have blood on their hands, but the Sunni sure seem to be a convienent scapegoat when no one wants to talk too much about what happened.

1) There is a huge difference between arresting someone and kidnapping them. Diplomats have been arrested right here in the United States, and charged with crimes, before being declared Persona non Grata and sent back to their countries.

2) Of the 5 Iranians arrested and still held, how many of those are diplomats? You say that lots of Iranians, including diplomats were arrested, and 5 Iranians are still being held, as if to insinuate that the diplomats are still in custody. Are they? If they are, what is going to be done with them? If not, then why are you linking them to the Iranians still held?

Now I dont believe that arresting Iranians without any probable cause is a good thing to do, but on the other hand, this should not be reported with :spin:.

But we are talking about Iraq. So do you really think Iran is making a distinction between "arrest" and "kidnap" of their diplomats in Iraq? I don't think they are.

I quoted the article you posted and IT said the US had been arresting and detaining Iranians for the last two months. Some were released and some are still detained. Not sure what else to tell you.

The article also says that after six kidnap suspects were arrested and taken to an Iraqi police station, they have now disappeared. So where are they? Did they let them go? Or are they going to be found BTK in a couple of days? Or... did they even exist?

So what is the difference between arrest and kidnap in Iraq?
.....On Tuesday an Iraqi government official said police close to the kidnap scene had opened fire on the gunmen and arrested six of them.

These six men were then apparently collected from a local police station by security officials who said they would take them to the Serious Crimes building in Baghdad. Local police later discovered the suspected kidnappers never arrived.....
Now there is no proof as to who really took the Iranian diplomat. How convenient?
