Iran shoots down U.S. spy drone amid growing military pressure

For myself I do not think that in the general scheme of the way this world of ours is managed, that we are any of us, all that important.

Should you have added one word?
and please do assume that you are (NOT) that important.
That WOULD have made it an insult.

Thank you.:rofl

They should reimburse us for the cost of that drone plane...those things are expensive!

Back to the thread...if you think shooting down a spy drone (whether over Iran or Iraq) should encourage the President to take military action then I would argue you are over eager to engage in military activity.

Did I say anything about encouraging the President to take military action? Nope.

We have a mission in Afghanistan thats no where near completed.

Correct. That's why we're still there.

We have a mission in Iraq which is failing dramatically

Matter of opinion. Thankfully, you're not the Commander-in-Chief

We have lost all our international support

Can you support that with a link please?

Now is not the time for another failed foreign policy from the President
In order for there to be another failed foreign policy, there would have to be a first.

I would not call you any names. You are not that imporant to me. You are just a nickname on a monitor. Don't be so thin skinned. and please do assume that you are that important. That IS an insult.
Thanks for admitting that your purpose here is to insult.

This is such a minor issue yet any excuse to make war I guess...:(
Who is saying that this is an act of war and thus substantiates action against Iran?

IIRC, that was the strawman that Hautey sarcastically put forth.

Terminating a spycraft is not considered an act of war because soverign airspace was typically violated.

Right On Tashah...hell yeah the US was in violation, and if it would have been the other way around the US Government would S**t bricks. Which prove my point that I have posted many times, The US government do not want to abide by the rules, but it expect others to follow their rules, and I hold the US responsible for most conflicts and wars that we are involved in.

The US violated Iranian airspace with a UAV. Maybe.
The Iranians shot it down. Maybe.
Your conclusion:
The US is responsible for most conflicts and most wars.
I'd laugh if that wasnt so darn sad.

Hate to tell you this, but this is true of almost every government throughout the world. Almost every government has spies one place or another and get angry when other countries spy on them. This has gone on since the dawn of man. The US is hardly the only government that does this.

OMG! Someone should alert the media! How self-important!

Countries have been using spy planes for decades. In fact I'll make a bet that there are at least half a dozen foreign spy planes in our airspace right now, along with even more of our own spy planes in other country's airspace. It happens all the time. Me, I'm just glad that it was an unmanned drone and not a manned aircraft.
As far as our response is concerned, we should send in a few dozen more and then send a couple of low risk images (lower resoultion than what we are capable of; just a couple shots of where their leaders spent the night) from them to Tehran. Let them know that shooting down ONE unmanned drone is a meaningless gesture on their part.

So, let me get this straight...

Iran shot down one of our planes, and you are wondering if we will provoke a war?

Errr, yes.

You're saying you would have no problem with Iranian spy planes flying over the US and wouldn't consider that a provication?

It is still unknown if the drone was flying over Iranian air space. Why make things us?
