Now, after this latest statement is there any doubt that Ahmadinejad is not dealing with a full deck of cards. Were going to dick around and do nothing and this fool is attempting to facilitate the return of the 12th Imam.
With what military? The one that is overextended and overworked as it is? Taking on 3 wars could be statistically possible. Is it realistic to put our men and women in not one but three zones of conflict? We bring down Mahmoud and then what? Operation Stay in Iran? Not only would that signify WWIII with half the Middle East but it would also mean a total collapse of the U.S. as we know it. We're already in enough sh!t as it is. It doesn't make sense to start another sh!t storm.
God this idiot makes it hard for me to defend their right to sovereignty and their right, as a sovereign nation, to generate their own power. As well as their right as a sovereign nation to develop weapons to defend themselves as so many other countries have.
I still defend the *nation*, but I'd like to go bitch slap their leader atm.

If you where president would your like to have the legacy of being the one who allowed Iran to go nuclear.
The NPT doesn't forbid nuclear power, first off. Secondly, they should just back out of the treaty if they've changed their minds.???? so the Non proliferation treaties which gave Iran the technology, contingent on abiding by certain restrictions, are meaningless?
Seriously...have neoconservatives simply lost their minds?
If Iraq has taught us anything, it would be to destroy Irans nuclear program from the air, and then let the iranians sort things out.
I didn't realize we were at war with Iran. Makes it tough to surrender when you haven't even fought. Mahmoud is like that little punk on the street corner that glares at you. You know you could beat his ***, but you keep walking past him. And he turns to his friends and he says "yeah, you see that. he's afraid of me. I totally would have kicked his *** if we fought"
"We do not worship Iran. We worship Allah...For patriotism is another name for paganism. I say let this land (Iran) burn. I say let this land go up in smoke, provided Islam emerges triumphant in the rest of the world."

We were not talking about nuclear power.

I was talking about both, hence my reference to both in both of my posts. If Iran wishes to develop nuclear weapons, then they should simply back out of the treaty that was signed. I don't see an issue.
Regardless, it's not as if other countries (including the US) haven't been in violation of the NPT. The entire treaty should just be dissolved.

Once again Irans president Mahmoud Ahmademonjihad opens his big fat mouth. He said on Sunday "the publication of a U.S. intelligence report saying Iran had halted a nuclear weapons program in 2003 amounted to a "declaration of surrender" by Washington in its row with Tehran.
When will the rest of the world start to take this guy serious when he says things like "We will wipe Israel off the map".

The 2007 NIE has effectively terminated Option #1, convincing the Iranians themselves to halt their nuclear program, because this route requires wide external agreement. When key countries banded together to pass Security Council Resolution 1737 in December 2006, it caused the Iranian leadership to respond with caution and fear; but the NIE's soothing conclusion undercuts such widespread cooperation and pressure. When Washington pressures some Western states, Russia, China, and the IAEA, they can pull it out of the drawer, wave it in the Americans' faces, and refuse to cooperate. Worse, the NIE has sent a signal to the apocalyptic-minded leadership in Tehran that the danger of external sanctions has ended, that it can go undisturbed about its bomb-building business.
In short, with Option #1 undermined and Option #3 unacceptable, Option #2 – war carried out by either U.S. or Israeli forces – becomes the more probable. Thus have short-sighted, small-minded, blatantly partisan intelligence bureaucrats, trying to hide unpleasant realities, helped engineer their own nightmare.
There you go again, I never said a damn thing about invading Iran, did I? I suggest strategic air strikes and it dosn't have to be by us. Israel is the one being threatened. We should support them in the effort to stop this mad man before its to late.
If we do nothing and he makes good on his promise to wipe Israel off the map people like you will blame America saying it was our fault for being in the middle east. And blame Israel for existing. Either way the blame America first crowd will do just that no matter what happens. Even if this mad man nukes a sovereign nation.
We do air strikes, then we had better be committed to a draft and whatever else it takes to invade Iran, because the Straits of Hormuz will be completely shut down, and our carrier fleet in the Gulf will be sunk. Russia has supplied Iran with state of the art radar-evading cruise missles, and there is no doubt that Iran would use every one of them, in addition to their own vast arsenal of missiles, if they are attacked. Iran is not Iraq. If we attack them, then we had better be prepared to commit to a REAL war.
