BBC News - Iran: Nasrin Sotoudeh 'among freed political prisoners'

Iran is reported to have freed at least 11 political prisoners, including noted human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh.

The eight women and three men are said to also include the reformist politician Mohsen Aminzadeh.

Ms Sotoudeh was arrested in 2010 and jailed for six years on charges of acting against national security.

The release of the political prisoners comes just days before Iran's new President Hassan Rouhani visits New York for the UN General Assembly.

In his election campaign, he promised to free political prisoners.

Ms Sotoudeh's husband, Reza Khandan, said she had been dropped off at their home by prison officials on Wednesday evening.

Good.. I hope he can lead Iran out of the quagmire.

The Iranian regime will say and do anything, including the abandonment of Syria, to pursue nukes and close the door on the West like Lil' (and not-so-lil' Kim).

I disagree, eco...

Iran could be very prosperous instead of in the mess they find themselves. Sanctions have crippled their economy .. Their oil production is way down.. If they can get it together they could resume trade with the EU which would be good for Iran and the EU.

They can make it to nukes.
