Iranian authorities reacted with anger towards the leaking of the secret agreement. This shows that how maintaining the secrecy of the deal was crucial for the Islamic Republic.

According to Press TV, the spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Behrouz Kamalvandi pointed out “the parts [of the document] published were confidential and were supposed to remain so”. The AEOI head, Ali Akbar Salehi stated “We do not intend to make this plan known to the public and (IAEA)’s action is a breach of promise,”

The nuclear agreement is partially like the Sykes-Picot agreement when it comes to secrecy, the untold truth and disingenuity.

A secret agreement, obtained by the Associated Press, reveal that Iran’s nuclear deal would not only lift constraints on Iran’s nuclear program after the nuclear deal, but it will also do so before the deal expires as it makes it easier for Iran to achieve its nuclear ambitions.

The thing is, the Obama Administration appears to me to be completely delusional when it comes to "agreements" with any Middle Eastern player.

There are no real agreements when "doing business" with the people in the Middle East. Agreements are just the starting point from which violations and blatant disregard begin.

It's a cultural thing that works between all the Middle Eastern players, but is foreign to the West.

Call it "Honor among Thieves", although that is a bit harsh. Persians, etc., expect to be ripped off in any agreement they sign. It's factored in to the cost of doing business.

It seems to me, until the West wakes up to this truth, it will continue to enter into these foolish agreements.

Perhaps wanting some of this agreement hidden is an acknowledgement they have some shred of evidence this is true.

Of course, lying to the public is a hallmark of the Obama Administration, and it's clone seeking office.

There were a number of persons here in the forum that argued that either the statement that there was a side agreement was false or that such an agreement was of no consequence. The fact now turns out to be that Obama did not want to solve the problem but to only kick it down the road for another president to deal with. As time is against us this will make the issue extremely messy, as the the treaty runs out. Obama was out-negotiated left, right and center in this overridingly important issue.
This makes the problem much worse than it was before the agreement was in place and only goes to show that the electorate elects populists of insufficient experience only at great risk to the country.

This isn't surprising. Obama lies almost as much as Hillary.

Perhaps the "art of the deal" would be better suited to arrangements made with ME and other rogue countries. For several administrations now, run of mill politicians have had little luck.

I is probably no worse than a negotiator whose main experience is a law degree from Harvard.
