"A prosecutor says an Iowa man seen in a videotaped confrontation with a police officer during the Capitol insurrection should be returned to jail until trial because he violated terms of his release by watching anti-government internet videos about the Jan. 6 attack.

Douglas Jensen was released in July after spending six months in jail. At the time, Jensen told a judge that he had been duped by QAnon conspiracy theories, saying he “bought into a pack of lies” and had since experienced a “wake-up call.”

Thirty days later, on Aug. 13, a pretrial services officer found Jensen in his garage in Des Moines listening to the news on a video-sharing website similar to YouTube that features anti-vaccine and anti-government content, according to a court filing Thursday.

Acting U.S. Attorney Channing Phillips wrote that the swift violation confirms what the government and the judge suspected all along: “that Jensen’s alleged disavowal of QAnon was just an act.”
 
How unfortunate. And he seems like such a nice guy.
 
You have to be dumb as a rock to buy into the Q shit to start with, there should be no surprise that he would be too dumb to follow his release guidelines.
Wonder if any action will be taken against the wife who bought him a phone after promising the judge to prevent him from accessing the internet?
 
Something tells me this guy should get a very strict probation when he gets out and should be watched like a hawk for the rest of his life.

I may have missed it in the article but I wonder what website he was on. Without knowing the specific conditions of his parole and exactly what he was listening to its hard for me to form an opinion on if he should be sent back to jail for a violation.
 
You missed the point. His "defense" included disavowing Qanon. Then he was found watching their crap on-line.

Was he? The article did not say that. It use vauge terms but did not go into any specifics on what was actually watched. If he was, then send him back to jail. if he wasn’t and the article is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill then they should be ashamed of their reporting. I don’t know the specifics of the agreement or exactly what was being watched, the article lacked those detail.

Ok you proved my point that the article doesn’t go into any specifics like naming the site or what he was viewing/listing to.
If he violated his parole then send him to jail, if he didn’t and the article is making this out to be something more than it is shame on them.
I admit I do not know if it violates parole or not you just assume it is without all the information
 
The judge told him if he "accessed the internet" he would be returned to jail. He accessed the internet using someone else's phone from wifi in his garage. It seems he was going out of his way to violate the terms of his release.

I don't assume anything that is not in the article. However, you seem to be upset about it.

Pretty simple. A federal pre-trial probation officer caught him violating his terms of pre-trial release. Nothing else needs to be said other than in court. If the judge agrees with prosecutors, he goes back to jail.
 
he must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law otherwise there will be more wanting to use
that defense. Setting examples is better than sweeping crime under the rug.

"Prosecutors said Jensen is a self-proclaimed “digital soldier” and “religious” adherent of QAnon, the conspiracy theory that has centered on the baseless belief that former President Donald Trump was secretly waging a campaign against a Satan-worshipping, child sex trafficking cabal of "deep state" enemies, Hollywood elites and Democratic foes.

Jensen traveled to Washington because he was “all about a revolution” and succeeded in his mission to become the “poster boy” for the events at the Capitol that day, prosecutors wrote in court papers. They argued that he poses a danger to the public and must remain jailed.

Defense attorney Christopher Davis said his client went to the Capitol to observe what QAnon promoters have prophesized as “The Storm," the day when Trump's enemies would be rounded up and executed."
