Is America experiencing a coup?

What do you call such a brazen, dangerous, and undemocratic act?

Biden settled on “insurrection” in his televised response to the violence. Other commentators have dubbed it a coup, or appended the legal label of sedition. Some newsrooms—like CBS—told reporters they could call the people who stormed the capitol “protestors,” while others rejected the label. The Washington Post went with “mob,” while NPR landed on “pro-Trump extremists.”

FBI warns 'armed protests' being planned at all 50 state capitols and in Washington DC

If our Democracy is important to you, we need to decry this kind of action and expel all of these insurectionists and seditionists from our nation!

House drawing articles today for impeaching Trump a second time. Inciting Insurrection is what they are considering.

Why not just punish them açording to the law?

Yes, and it's being staged by Trump but by a large number of Republicans as well. If we're going to hold Trump responsible then it can't just be him.

because that wouldn't allow them to further clamp down and punish dissenting opinions that might threaten their power.

It's a failed insurrection, but those who stormed into Congress should be charged either with sedition or domestic terrorism.

I personally cannot do that but I can certainly suggest. My suggestion is to take their citizenship away from them. I doubt that will happen, meaning the next best thing is to punish them by law. I think a punishment of having to live elsewhere than here in the U.S. can be a worse punishment than going to jail for a few years.

Well we can’t just do things that are not legal because something bothers us. So why even suggest it?

Because that is what should be done to traitors. Even if it can't legally be done.
