"BAGHDAD - The shadowy leader of the Islamic State of Iraq, an al-Qaida-inspired group that challenged the authority of Iraq's government, was captured Friday in a raid on the western outskirts of Baghdad, an Iraqi military spokesman said.

Abu Omar al-Baghdadi was arrested along with several other insurgents in a raid in the town of Abu Ghraib, said Brig. Gen. Qassim al-Moussawi, spokesman for the Baghdad security operation. U.S. officials had no confirmation of the capture and said they were looking into the report."

The best part is, the Iraqi military appears to have accomplished this. Good for them!

This is good news - however, don't expect to see the DemLibSocs in Congress say anything about it unless asked, you know business as usual - attack the President, and bullshit the people.

You can't expect me to feel too elated when I know he's just going to be immediately replaced by the next in line. What's the latest count on the number of Hizbollah and Hamas leaders Israel has taken out to date?

But hey, if this gives you cause for celebration, enjoy it for the next, oh, five minutes that the insurgency has no leader.

I'm glad that it was the Iraqis that got him. This is showing great defensive progress which is crucial to their well being. Hopefully we can tough this out long enough to give the new government a strong start.
