I repeat my earlier prediction that we are rapidly moving towards the point at which Democrats will be trying to blame Republicans for Obamacare.

Insurance rates in Indiana will increase 72 percent for those with individual plans and 8 percent for small group plans under President Barack Obama's healthcare overhaul, according to the state’s insurance department.

The spike in costs is due primarily to new mandates under the law, which requires insurers to cover those with pre-existing conditions and to offer a minimum level of benefits
, said Logan Harrison, chief deputy commissioner with the Indiana Department of Insurance under Republican Gov. Mike Pence. New taxes and fees under the law also contributed, Harrison said...

Say agian how can the rate go up 72% when the price is capped at 2 or 4% of your income?

LMAO

Oct 1 is the sign up date, this is part of the paid propoganda to get people to not sign up.

Lots of people have been saying that Obamacare will increase insurance rates for a very long time now. But Obamacare supporters pretty much ignored it or dismissed it as "right wing lies" or when they do acknowledge it they just blame it on CEO's and insurance companies just trying to make a profit at the expense of the poor.

:) You're going to be a sad, angry little kid on Christmas Morning when Santa doesn't come.

Whose income?

See...this is where this socialist little program would fail. What if all the 0bama disciples get their wish, and there are no more "rich" people? So now 0bamaCare is propped up with everyone's 2% of their minimum wage job? Good luck with that.

What if you get your wish and the United States government is dissolved entirely?

What you mean to say is some insurance rates, not all insurance rates. What Obama really failed to do was be honest with what is a basic requirement for the ACA to work, drawing in young healthy people who may not need or otherwise wish to purchase health insurance either by having them buy health insurance or collecting a fee, is the only way to afford to pay for all the elderly and sickly people who do require health care and may otherwise not have been able to get it due to pre-existing conditions. These people will pay less and in some cases will have their first access to healthcare, whereas other people will not benefit as much.

Some people get more out of it than others, Obama should have been more straight forward about it

You know what? there are various words for for intrusion into another's life: Help, assist, aid and support are some. Dominate, control, direct and restrict are others.

When the government directs me to purchase something that they control and that I am restricted to that purchase because the dominate the choices, which group of words best describe Obamacare?

There is a difference between assisting and dominating. It is the difference between raising a child and keeping a slave. The government does not need to be dissolved to be less intrusive and the government does not have to all intrusive to be a help to its citizens.

That would have required a dramatic departure from his communication style.

In California, it looks like competition is working and the exchanges are going to come out with plans that AREN'T increasing rates 72%. What's wrong with Indiana's exchanges if this is true?

my individual rates have gone up almost one hundred percent in the years leading up to the health care law. they skyrocketed when there wasn't even talk about a health care law. rates are going up because our model sucks, and the PPACA does very little to fix it.

No I will just defect to a country with UHC.........legal or not this time :)

Yes, my point exactly, thank you. Unfortunately Velvet's worldview is too black and white for such things.

YOUR income.

So person x will pay a different rate than person y for the same insurance. it is based on your previous 2 years income.

Yes we will pay 2% of our min wage job, but its propped up by the .9% tax on the Mega rich, and 3.2% taxes on the "investment income" which now includes apartment building too I guess LMAO!!!
THANK YOU LAND "LORD" LMAO!!!!

PS
Be glad its not the 5.4% tax on the MEGA rich like in the original HC reform.......

Here is the cost calculator for everyones insurance.

Nice of you to deal in absolutes. No one is saying government should be dissolved. No one is saying we don't need laws. You exhibit partisan stupidity by bringing this up.

What I'm saying is that the government is quickly becoming a cancer. It's spreading it's tendrils out to places it doesn't belong. It's becoming bloated, and continuing to bloat. It wastes money like a drunken sailor on shore leave. It is as efficient as a Rube Goldberg machine. It's spreading faster than water from a broken vase.

...and it's becoming oligarchic. Government no longer cares about the country's well being. It cares about self-preservation. You people have been relegated to being "votes." Nothing more, and nothing less.

So what you're saying is that loser deadbeats are rewarded with low costs, while successful people pay more. I guess I now know which of these two you familiarize yourself with.

Again...wealth envy bullchip. Yay to being a social parasite!

Maybe the wealthy will stop being so charitable now that the gun's pointed at their heads. "Sorry United Way...0bama has your cut. Go get it from him."

The rich give NOTHING to the poor anyway. Charity is only for a tax brake and to pay off the scum that run charities. The poor only get a few % and to make the
charity look good.

Did you also predict the "insurance rebates"? Some people are already getting big fat checks.

An estimated 8.5 million Americans will receive rebates from their health insurers this summer thanks to the Affordable Care Act, which says companies that fail to spend at least 80 percent of premiums on health care must refund the difference to consumers.....

The insurance commissioner is a political appointee. He's going to say whatever the Republican governor wants him to say.

Really? Got any proof to back that up? How does the United Way stay in business? Salvation Army? What a bunch of crap.

Then your problem should be with the charities, and not to the people who contribute.

Your words just get more and more bitter, as the wealth envy gets more and more prominent. Go get a job and make something of yourself, instead of constantly relying on others.

They stay in business to keep thier fat salarys up. Proof is living on the streets. They give you nothing. Go ask some time.

Chinaman has all the jobs and the collar of the Chinamans salary makes doing any high value work in USA pointless, might as well just take the same pay in the crap job!

I have. I worked next door to the largest charitable food pantries in my city. Everyday at noon, they'd feed hundreds of beggars and homeless. Then again, they'd also feed the losers who'd roll up in their hoopty Mercedes. Single mother and five tax credits pile out for the free stuff, then go away.

Wow....good thing Trayvon Martin wasn't a "Chinaman." You'd be considered a racist, huh?

We’ve seen in other states’ data that bronze plans and silver plans can have hugely different premiums. Here in the District, for example, CareFirst plans to charge a 27-year-old $172 for bronze coverage and $341 for a platinum plan.
Indiana’s $570 figure comes from squishing together all the filings –- every plan that is bronze, platinum or anywhere in between –- and coming up with one composite. We don’t know whether a bronze plan in Indiana will be incredibly expensive, which is certainly a possibility, or if some high-priced platinum offerings are pushing up the average.
Indiana has not released data on metal-level premiums, although some information can be gleaned from looking through the rate filings submitted by insurers (endless thanks to Sarah Lueck at the Center for Budget Priorities and Policy for showing me how to access said filings).
Anthem’s rate filing includes projections for health insurance costs in their bronze plans. A 47-year-old male who does not smoke would be charged, on average, $307 per month. Sample plans from another plan, MDWise, predict a 47-year-old man will be charged $294 and $391 for a bronze and silver plan, respectively.

Indiana says health plan costs will spike to $570. That’s not the full story.

From your own article.... $100. That is a 'big fat check', when some people pay premiums of $10,000 plus?

You must have quite interesting view of what a 'big fat check' is.....

Spend it wisely. You'll need every penny of that 'big fat check'.

Giving a little food means nothing. its like SNAP, how do you get the food with no bus pass or gas?

Nationalism is legal and is WHY USA even exists. its for US CITIZENS. Funny how some people dont get that and put foreigners above USA. kind of like the TRAITOR SCUM of the Washington state legislators that spend $300 million on Healthcare for foreign criminals while US CITIZENS are not allowed to
buy $10 in pain pills.
