Well, I don't see much change in finances. North Korea is not so much connected with international transactions and there is no reason for the stock markets to overreact, because it does not come as such a big surprise.

As to arms race, I think, South Korea can live with a neighbor, who has nuclear weapons, there is no need for them to have an own stockpile.

New world war 3 is now a little more improbable, because the risk-chance relation changed to more risk in case of attacking North Korea.
I don't see North Korea starting a World War.

I was surprised about the rather harsh reaction from China, but I don't think, it will have too much negative influence to their relationships in the long run.

I'm thinkin' it might make their earthworms glow for a while.....

.

Maybe.. But the investment might suffer in that area as it now became a critical area ..

As for the arm race .. I think its the most interesting propability
Things will be quite exciting on the international level once japan and south korea start their own programme

Agreed .. although I have a feeling that those people who oppose North Korea will start a propaganda about the possiblity of a third world war

Raw material prices went up a bit today, this can be considered a sign of uncertainties in the markets.
Maybe some investment decisions are influenced by these developments, decisions like building a new factory in South Korea or somewhere else.

South Korea signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and they did not signal to change something. South Korea has about 20 nuclear plants and they have smaller non-commercial enrichment facilities. They had American nuclear weapons at their territory and possibly they could have it again.

I think they consider a contract with the US more worth when having nuclear weapons on their soil.

Maybe it's similar with Japan.

This is probably by all means.

I hope so to.

1. Nuclear Blackmail: kim Jong Il wants the security that he thinks having Nukes will give him - assurance that no one will invade or attempt to overthrow him. He also wants existing sanctions to be lifter from his country so that NK can grow economically and become a 'Big time Player'. As a result of their newly acquire nuclear power, I believe we will see more and more brash statements and/or Nuclear Blackmail by NK to get the sanctions lifted as well as appeasement regarding other demands KJI has.

2. Nuclear Attack: IMO, the world just got a whole lot more dangerous for the United States. As it has been stated in other posts, there is no proof that NK can reach the U.S. with its missiles; however, it is plain to see (acording to Military experts) that the long range missile technology acquired by China from the U.S. :)roll:) has been shared with NK, as evident by the advancements in NKs missile designs/technology. Still, an attack on U.S. soil by NK nukes is highly unlikely. What IS more probable is NK smuggling a nuke through one of the hundreds of tunnels leading from NK to SK or via one of the many infiltrations from the sea (which we find evidence of over there all the time - part of NK's Special ops trng program) and being set off in SK, possibly at one of our bases down there. MORE probable is Kim Jong Il selling a nuke to Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, or any other number of big time Terrorist extremists groups who would in turn use it to strike Israel or sail it into NY harbor in one of the millions of containers that flow into there and set it off.

3. U.N. Exposed: The U.n. will finally, once and for all, be exposed as an insignificant paper tiger/den of criminals that has outlived its time. The U.N. has been watered down by so many nations that have their own agendas. these groups have gained access to the U.N. and now work from within the U.N. to keep the world's nations as a whole/unified group out of their businesses/dealings, so they can carry out things like the assassinations of Lebonese leaders and the enslavement of the the entire nation of Lebanon for their use as a launching base for attacks against Israel. The evidence of this 1 example was this latest conflict that exposed that Iran was funding, supplying, arming, training, directing/guiding, and even had its own troops fighting beside Hezbollah Terrorists against Israel. hezbollah now outnumbers/out-guns the lebonese military - an occupying terrorist organization backed by another nation is stronger than the host nation, and the U.N. refused to acknowledge Iran had anything to do with Hezbollah, refused to take any action to disarm hezbollah after passing a resolution calling for such, and worked to secure a cease-fire for the terrorist group so they could re-build, re-arm, and re-group so that hostilities could resume in the future!

It is therefore NO surprise that it was announced in the news this morning that no official U.N. sanctions are expected any time soon against NK because several nations either do not want sanctions against NK or want nothing more than a slap on the wrist! NK, like hussein, has engaged in YEARS of lying, deception, defiance, and U.N. violations, has successfully tested a Nuclear bomb - declaring to the world that they are now a nuclear 'threat'/player....and the U.N.'s watered-down, traitor-to-the-U.N.-cause infested nest of criminals and rogues can/will not agree to sanctions as a unified body against this rogue nation! The U.N. will be exposed as a failed experiment, an organization that can no longer solve ANY problem, and a body that has outlived its time and should be disbanned.

It was just reported by several media that the hold-up on sanctions against NK is coming from China and Russia. They are against the sanctions that would prevent NK from being able to buy or sell anything to do with a nuclear weapons program. In other words, china and russia have no probelm with Nk selling Al qaeda or Hezbollah a nuke! :doh

THERE is your problem with today's U.N.! 'Nuff said!
