If one believes the US was wrong in attacking Iraq does that make it ok for Russia to attack Ukraine.

You asked the difference. Pretty simple. The US had no intention of taking of all or part of Iraq and make it part of the USA. Putin wants part or all of Ukraine and make it part of Russia.
