I watched ABC News this evening, many videos from inside Congress, chilling and sad. Officers being crushed against steel barricades with the insururgist screaming "grab there shields''. The Capital police officer killed by blunt force to the head, all goes back to Trump. Harry Truman, a man with an over abundance of common sense stated the buck stops with him.

I stated 5 years ago on this forum Trump was unfit to be President. His personality is mismatched for the job. It all went downhill from there...and the GOP, and America are now paying the price. This will not go away for the GOP, they have serous cohesion issues, so much so Trump could break away, and take his folks with him.

The Dems need to get these next 2 years right.

You were proven wrong, as Trump proved to be a superb highly competent president. America is in a far better position than it was before Trump emerged. His management of the epidemic was spot on. He encouraged states to keep open but left it up to them. He stopped travel from China very early on, and got us the vaccine far faster than the left thought possible. The DJIA was 18,000 when Trump was elected. It's 31,000 now.

If conviction is known to be (virtually) impossible then this is simply an exercise in time wasting. The problem with asking the Senate republicants for a symbolic (not removing Trump from office any sooner) impeachment conviction is that it puts those republicants in the position of agreeing with Pelosi (and Schumer) over the objections of a significant portion of their voting base. The whole idea of holding a second impeachment “trial” (possibly after Biden is POTUS) with an obviously partisan jury pool is terribly flawed.

They had no reason to impeach Trump the first time, as it was ruled that the whole case against Trump was a fabrication.
You will never have any semblence of unity, in the congress or senate, as trust cannot exist in a vacuum. This episode has serious ramifications for the American republic and for generations to come, even if those posting partisan comments, cannot see it!

The entire capitol complex is compromised. They have to assume foreign actors were embedded in the insurrectionists and that literally any device or object in the building could now be an espionage device. They have to tear the entire place apart. Any data on any computer in the building has to be assumed to be in the hands of foreign enemies.
