I'm just about sick of this....

Every laptop or netbook I've had --- the same problem.

After a couple of years, it won't charge anymore with the power cord. New power cord doesn't work. New battery doesn't work. Grrrr.

I ordered my very first desktop computer the other day. Stupid laptops.

Like Fiddy, my first thought is that the port is breaking.

If this is happening to you repeatedly, consider how you use your laptop. Do you literally put it in your lap? If so, are your legs or something pressing against where the charging cord plugs in? That can weaken the port over time, and it will break eventually, so try to avoid applying pressure to it.
