So true. The real problem here is the Trump team simply thought of bringing in a spoiler too late. It reflects both their cynicism and incompetence in a neat little own-goal.

They were only going to float Kanye in swing states where they were in danger of losing and now it looks like he won't be on the ballot in enough of those. Word will filter down to even those few fans who might have voted for him that he 'has no chance of winning' though they may not understand the mechanism. In which case they'll carry on and vote for whoever else they would have voted for or not at all.

And to have the same people who have been highly supportive of all the GOP attempts at disenfranchisement and dead against mail-in voting come out now and start a thread about how ignoring the GOP spoiler-candidate is 'voter suppression' is both cynical and stunningly lacking in self-awareness. We know exactly the game they're playing: votes for me, not for thee.
