Illegal immigrants are now suing American landowners for harrassment for stopping them from tresspassing on private property and stopping them from entering the u.S. illegally. The lawsuits are being filed by the Mexican goverment on behalf of the illegal immigrants!

One farmer/rancher told of how illegal immigrants have broken down his fences, stolen and killed livestock, and trespassed across his property for years. He finally took action and began stopping the illegal imigrants at gun point, after local authorities and border patrol could not/would not do anything, and forced the illegals off his land/back across the border. He is now facing a $245 million dollar lawsuit. If he loses, he will lose his farm, which will be either sold off and the money given to the illegal immigrants or the entire ranch will be given to the illegals.

The story went on to tell of another farmer/rancher who ignored the legal notice of being sued by illegals via the Mexican goverment. His property was seized, he was forced off of his land, and his ranch was given to the very illegals from whom he tried to protect his ranch!

 WHAT the.....?

The rancher needs to sue the US government for failing to protect his property and allowing criminal activity to occur.

In the meantime, how does he defend himself against the Mexican Govt.'s lawsuit....if he can afford to hire a lawyer and take on the Mexican Govt?! If he ignores it, his land will be taken like the other farmer!

This is why I fully believe it is time for the border states to take the security of their borders into their own hands. Fluck the feds. We need to clean the entire house out.

Why do I find this thread hard to believe? Because it's probably a load of crap, full of lies, unsubstantiated...

"his ranch was given to the very illegals from whom he tried to protect his ranch"

Ya right!

Actually, that is an old story, and is true. The illegals did get the possession of his property. I'll see if I can find a link to the story later on tonight and post it for you.

This was in August of last year. The rancher hardly seems the innocent citizen easyt65 makes him out to be.

Also he was not sued by the Mexican government but by a US group called 'Southern Poverty Law Center'. Also the attacks that occured were not even on the ranchers land. He was out being a vigilantly and was charged with beating one of the immigrants with a pistol.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/20/AR2005082000922.html

The irony here is that these ranchers are most likely conservatives who voted for Bush because he would create a "safer" America.

Never said he was innocent, and he damn well deserved to go to jail, but the issue of rewarding criminal behavior is bull. He should have been locked up, however, if the government had done their job, and protected the property of American citizens, this situation would never have came up.

This article provides other information as well. The two were acquitted of assault charges. The reason he went to jail was being a felon violating firearms laws.

All us Americans must be united against this attack.
Our "justice/court system" is in dire need of reform,IMO, if these reports are true.
Even of not, it seems as if frivolous and "untrue" lawsuits are all too easy to institute.

I also believe that the American farmer has the perfect right to shoot to kill those who are deliberately and knowingly trespassing on his property.

I meant to say the original poster made him out to be innocent, not you. The federal government should be doing it's job, which they obviously are not. Even so it is not for the ranchers to go out taking the law into their own hands. We don't need super heros, we need people to confront our government and make them do what the US citizens want.

The ranchers seem to just be going out of their way to be a border patrol. It is not like they are sitting at home and protecting the lives of their family from invading immigrants wanting to kill the rancher or their family.

Story is true. As far as the farmers being innocent or not? If I own a ranch, and I have several hundred illegal immigrants, possibly terrorists crossing my land, breaking my fences, killing my animals, and staling my property each year, AND the U.S. goverment does nothing to protect me, my property, and my family, I have every right to protect my property, my life, and my family!

Instead of these farmers picking these guys up ay gunpoint, throwing them in a cell, loading them in the back of a truck, and carrying their butts back across the border, it should be the Border patrol, homeland security, or the U.S. Military.

The update to this story is that the latest lawsuits are being filed on behalf of the illegals by the Mexican govt. These lawsuits should immediately be dismissed, the Mexican Govt. whould be challenged to patrol their borders to stop the influx of immigrants, and the U.S. Govt. should be giving the Mexican govt. the bill for each and every bit of U.S. citizen property damage caused by it's people coming over illegally, trespassing, stealing, etc....

The Federal Govt. SHOULD be doing its job, but they are clearly NOT! If it isn't for the ranchers to go defend their property and the U.S. goverment isn't doing it, WHO THEN are the farmers supposed to turn to? I am sure they would LOVE to know!

Yes, the ranchers DO seem to be going out of their way to form a border patrol, to stop the illegal immigrants from flooding into the U.S., from breaking down their fences, from killing and stealing their livestock, and from doing other damage to their land! Again, if they don't do it, no one else is! some are protecting their property and lives while others are doing the job of protecting this nation's border that our federal Goverment is turning a blid eye towards! Huge tunnels have been fround crossing into the U.S.,tunnels with Qurans found in them, reports of Mexican military escorting drug dealers across the border for drops then crossing back over - even firing on border patrol! SOMEBODY has to stand up to this invasion - the goverment isn't doing it. What do you suggest then - we just step back and let all these criminals, illegals, terrorists, and Mexican Govt. do whatever they want on U.S. soil?

Hmmm. Maybe if the borders were protected like they should be, this situation might be different.

The story itself is true but greatly exaggerated towards the good of the rancher by you. If you actually read the articles you post the rancher was not at his ranch when he beat one of the illegal immigrants with a pistol. He and his fellow ranchers were patrolling and searching for illegal immigrants.

In the end I do agree with you that the US government should be handling this and that the Mexican government should be helping to stop this. Though I do not agree that it is ok for these ranchers to take the law into their own hands by beating, kidnapping and/or holding the immigrants hostage.

The rancher was acquited of the assault charges, no evidence to prove otherwise. Therefor, that is hype and :spin:
It is the right of the americans to defend their property and families. Holding a criminal until the law arrives is not holding someone hostage. It is called a citizens arrest and is perfectly legal. Well, it was, until we got idiot judges and even sleazier lawyers and politicians.

As usual the government isn't doing a damn thing and just hoping the problem fixes itself. I am on your side with this.

You keep stating this but of all the articles and writings I have read only one (and it was written as personal opinion) has stated that the immigrants were killing livestock, destroying land and/or cause any type of harm to the ranchers. Please provide links so I can better understand this part.

I live in san diego and read quite frequently on tunnels being found. I have never once read that Qurans are being found in these tunnels by any reliable source. Though I do not doubt that there are islamic radicals either sneaking themselves or explosives into our country via Mexico. Now the mexican police is widely know to be corrupt and easily buyable (I have first hand experience with this through TJ trips in college), I would assume the same for the military. Mexico itself needs to have better control of it's own country, all we need to do is stop their problems from coming into our country by securing the broders.

We have a government for a reason. What these ranchers are doing is simply anarchic. Though if I was in their shoes I would most likely be setting up alarms and/or traps in my property to stop them from entering. I would not go out seraching for the immigrants though.

Saw this on the interview on Fox just a few minutes ago where they talked with 1 farmer/rancher being sued about this. Could not find a link to the story on the net, though. Again, though, just because he says it happened doesn't mean it happened!

I amglad you see where govt. should be doing what these guys are, but I also agree with you that they shouldn't be kidnapping, beating them etc....the one reort I read on that showed the farmer was acquited of that - acquited or not, if he'd doing it he shouldn't be going out of his way to do so as part of 'we'll teach you/make you pay' mentality!

Of course, if Mexicans want to be Americans so badly, if the Mexican Goverment is so shady and it and its military is so corrupt and can not patrol/control its own border and people, maybe the United states should just ANNEX MEXICO, making it the 51st state!
