The Senate voted yesterday to allow illegal aliens to collect Social Security benefits based on past illegal employment -- even if the job was obtained through forged or stolen documents.

"There was a felony they were committing, and now they can't be prosecuted. That sounds like amnesty to me," said Sen. John Ensign, the Nevada Republican who offered the amendment yesterday to strip out those provisions of the immigration reform bill. "It just boggles the mind how people could be against this amendment."

But on a separate note: The vote failed 50-49. Who didn't vote? And if they had, would it have been 50-50, forcing Cheney and the White House to make a stand on the issue? Hmmmmm....

Social Security for illegals OK'd
Senate blocks effort to limit benefits for those who become legal residents

The Social Security proposal, offered by Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., would have prevented illegals who become legal from collecting the benefit on wages they earned while working unlawfully.

"Social Security was not intended for people who entered our country illegally," Ensign is quoted as saying.

Countered Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.: "Their money sits in the Social Security Administration waiting to be matched with an eligible beneficiary, and once those workers establish the eligibility, how in all fairness can we deny them the credit for their past contributions?"

SIMPLE:

1. They were illegal and in-eligible for a job to begin with.

2. It can be argued that they took jobs away from Americans who needed jobs (even though there are those who argue that immigrants take ONLY jobs no Americans want).

3. A Federal Govt Research study, according to CNN, released late last year shows Illegals in this country (12+ Million) drain an estimated $30-40 Million more from our economy than they put in, and most of that money goes back to Mexico! They have been paid enough!

4. Consider 'their' illegal money sitting in our Social Security (and I wonder how much that is as most illegals, I am told, are paid in cash and are not found on most payrolls because of the laws preventing companies from legally hiring illegals) as FINES for their illegal entry into the U.S. and for illegally holding jobs, another law broken!

If you want to make Social Security retroactive to include their illegal activity/work, fine the companies who broke the law by hiring them and use that money to pay them, but do not take American dollars from an already strained Social Security program designed to take care of law abiding Americans to further reward illegal activity.

It is bad enough that we are considering rewarding illegals with Amnesty/citizenship, but rewarding them with Social Security benefits for illegally obtained jobs is NUTS!

Time for another brief visit from "the facts".

Illegal aliens have not been granted social security benefits. IN fact, the Senate hsn't passed anything at all. They've been working on ONE bill for months now. Tat bill didn't mention Social Security in any way. Republicans tried to add an amendment to this still-unpassed bill, saying illegal aliens could not collect SS benefits. The amendment got voted down, 50-49. So now, the still-unpassed bill still doesn't mention anything about their collecting or not collecing SS benefits.

The only thing we can get out of this kerfuffle, is that there were 50 Senators who voted against a provision to keep illegals from collecting benefits paid by the jobs they illegally have. That part is news. As for the rest, the Senate hasn't passed anything, hasn't permitted anything, hasn't really done much of anything at all - a common condition. And even if they do pass something some day, it will also have to be passed by the House, and signed by the Prez, before it has any actual effect.

OK, back to your normal screaming and demagoguery. Have a nice day.

The person who even thought of the idea about giving SS benefits to ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ought to be shot in the ***. They complain that SS is going to run out soon, so what do they think about doing? Adding 12 million people to the program all at one time. SS was a bad idea to begin with anyways.

The scary thing is that I saw it being talked about on Fox and CNN - sevceral politicians don't want to let it go. They want to give Latino legals who now are eligible for Social Security benefits based on/covering wages they received when they were illegally hired and worked illegally in the united States.

Meanwhile, politicians are discussing rewarding illegals with citizenship, making 12+ million illegals automatic beneficiaries of the social security prograp, a program set up for legal Americans and a program already agrred to be failing and in jeopardy of collapse. And before you start talking about how they will pay into that system, talk to me about the federal goverment's appraisal/report that concluded citizenship for the 12+ Million illegals would increase the economic drain on the economyfrom an estimated $30-40 Mil a year to $70-80 mil a year..........

Social security, though, is for Americans. No one should receive Social Security benefoits covering a period when they were NOT American citizens, especially when they were here illegally were working illegally for Americans/American companies!

This ain't dead, yet folks! Our politicians are working for the 12+ Million Illegals and for Mexico, not us!
