Personally, I'd say it's not much of a poll because it doesn't actually show one's opinion on the issue. I don't think illegal immigrants are a blight on our society, and it makes little difference to me that they are breaking the law every second they are here -- but how can I vote that illegal immigrants are not illegal immigrants? They are, by definition. Rather than couching it in terms of a definition, it should have asked the original poster's real question: are they a blight on society, or are they a benefit to our economy, etc.?

I'd vote that illegal immigrants are like any other demographic group you could name: they break laws, they uphold laws; some work, some don't work, some commit crimes. Some are a burden, some are a boon. The only difference between illegal immigrants and other people here is that, because of their status, they are easier to single out and use as scapegoats.

Hmm... I can see your point and what would make you say this but I have to disagree. I know in arizona at least, a HUGE majority of violent crime and theft is attributed to the illegal immigrant community. The mall next to my old house had the highest rate of autotheft than anywhere else in the country. They also knew (because they tracked the cars that those autojack statalite tracking things in them) that as soon as the cars were stolen they were driven across the border and sold to people over in mexico. We know that most of the drugs found in arizona come straight across the border by illegals who's intent is to sell them (hard to personally consume 200 lbs of pot!). Murders, gang violence, and rape have also skyrocketed since this is been an issue. You can't watch the news at night over there without seeing at leaste one report about a murder or rape that has happened and now the suspect has fled back to mexico so they can't get them. Most of them had multiple crimes under their belt.

To be fair, I have seen plenty of people that just want to go to work and send money back home, but even they drive stolen cars (even if they didn't steal them themselves) and none of them have insurance. So even the people that supposedly help society and endangering plenty of us every day by driving without licenses and not having insurance. This rases the rates of insurance for the rest of us living there and now everybody who was here legally had to pay more every month because of illegal immigrants.

Boon or blight? I'd have to vote blight.

I Refer to them as criminal illegal aliens, which is what they are; it is not quite as redundant as it seems. The vast majority of them walking crime waves, and willingly so. Among other things, they're responsible for booming disease epidemics, false ID's, theft, looting public services and charities, smuggling, and lower wages, stealing the food off legal citizens' tables both literally and figuratively, just to name a few of the nonviolent crimes almost all of them are responsible for commiting. The one thing I have learned about working for a parking management facility is that people do not give a **** about fines.I have even found that to be true while driving on the highway.The benifits scum get from employing illegals far outweighs the measely fines that may be imposed on them for hiring illegals.I say throw these scum in jail,confiscate their business, property and deny them any ability to own,operate and or manage a business.

I'm sorry but if you were in the same scenario as these people who have children that are starving and a family that is living in dire poverty, and you had a chance to get a job and raise your family away from your poverty stricken country, you'd do the exact same thing they did. And it wouldn't be a criminal act to you, it would be survival. They are not criminals. They did not steal and they did not harm anyone in any way.
