First, most people wouldn't want me as President simply because I would dispense with the political bullshit, and seriously take the bull by the horns.

I answered:
Fight them everywhere we know they are hiding, regardless of what country they are in

No sense in beating around the bush. If this is a war on terror then by God let's have at it, especially right here at home.

If I was President, I would:
  • Take all US troops off foreign soil and bring them home.
  • Start a dialogue with our enemies to find out the root of the hatred.
  • Revise our foreign policy, where possible and without compromising national security, to address legitimate complaints against the US.
  • Cut the defense budget in half and use the money to generate growth in the economy and to provide health care for all Americans.
  • Repeal the Patriot Act
  • Repeal the Military Commissions Act
  • End illegal wiretapping
  • Arrest Bush, Cheney, their cabinet and advisors, then charge them with Crimes Against Humanity and turn them over to an International Court for trial.
  • Outlaw electronic voting machines without paper backup provisions.
  • Introduce a bill that would make campaign contributions anonomous.
That's just the beginning!

Hunt the terrorist down and exterminate them like the rat scum they are.

Stop fighting, except to find Bin Laden and his cohorts.

Then spend all of this money that we've been wasting on the war in a set of domestic programs.

Then I would (attempt to) remove all rights for illegal immigrants, and treat them like criminals, not guests.

Following that I would try to get rid of victimless crime laws.

well, you did ask.

If I was President, I would:
  • Take all US troops off foreign soil and bring them home.
So you would start out by giving into the demands of OBL's Fatwa, in otherwords you would surrender to the terrorists and leave a power vacuum in the Middle East allowing AQ to establish their pan-Islamic caliphate, well perhaps they'de have some competition with the Iranian's.

  • Start a dialogue with our enemies to find out the root of the hatred.
Oh that's easy, we aren't Muslims and do not live under puritanical sharia law.

  • Revise our foreign policy, where possible and without compromising national security, to address legitimate complaints against the US.
  • Cut the defense budget in half and use the money to generate growth in the economy and to provide health care for all Americans.
  • Repeal the Patriot Act

So you would begin by capitulating to the demands of AQ and then leave us vulnerable to future attacks, ****ing brilliant.

  1. Ask all of America to make the neccesary sacrifices. That includes raising the taxes so that future generations are not left with the bill.
  2. Completely re-assess our middle east policies, bringing in China to push forth a workable agenda, Russia? Irrelevant, France bla bla bla
  3. Switch to alternative renewable energy, this is two birds with one stone, both fighting against global warming and also resolving our dispair toward brutal authoritarian countries.
  4. Completely restructure the school system if it requires re-laying every single brick; there's nothing more important than the future generation and they need to be far far more advanced in learning the sciences. This includes k-12 and also increased budgets to the NSF, NIH and various other government research grants.
  5. take a nuke to K street then take the special interests out of politics all together
  6. Universal health care the way that WI Crippler has suggested You want it, fine, you don't want it, ok pay your premiums.
  7. Build a freaking damn continuous wall on our borders that do not touch ocean, illegal immigration is ILLEGAL period, nothing else to say.
  8. Open up immigration quotas for more legal immigration
  9. No more subsidies and tariffs to established businesses after 1 bailout, you can't stay open, sorry you're problem you got your second chance, you're beyond help.
  10. No more tax loopholes - hire highly qualified accountants and CPA's to work for the government so that businesses do not use the tax loopholes. Right now it's the other way around; businesses are the ones with the high qualified accountants to escape taxations while the government is way way over run.
  11. Combine the intelligence agencies into 2 units with one boss. That means International and National CIA and FBI then one czar that goes between both, in other words get rid of the excess garbage in between that does the same exact thing. Re-instate FEMA as an independent department to deal with emergency responses only.
  12. Patriot act, illegal wiretaps all that stuff that are clear violations of civil liberties must go
  13. Separation of church and state is for the benefit of church and state. Thus there needs to be a clear wall of separation between the two.
  14. Legalize Marijuana
Boy, I could go on and on and on with this stuff. Too much stuff to list.

Very probably shoot myself; I do not envy the next person we elect President.

If I had the popular and legislative support necessary, however, I would do the following:

1: Finish our wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Send more troops and more equipment, and keep our boots on the ground until both governments can function stably on their own.

2: Request humanitarian aid from the countries that have refused to join us, for the specific purpose of getting Iraqi infrastructure and economy back in order. Make the case-- mea culpas included-- that our blundering has destabilized the region, but that it is in everyone's best interests to help us clean it up.

3: Bring Iran and North Korea, and other states known to be supporting terrorism, back to the bargaining table to discuss terms for their immediate cessation of such. Be prepared to make extravagant concessions and support them.

But make it absolutely clear-- and make it publically known-- that we do not have either the manpower or the patience for further "regime change" and thus, refusal to cooperate or even the slightest hint of treachery will lead to nothing short of total annihilation by every form of dirty warfare we are capable of delivering via airplane.

Make all negotiations public, specifically in their own countries, so that their citizens see what we are offering them and what their leaders are risking by refusing.

***Well, if that's just the beginning, let me as president proclaim that I would take every opposite position of this liberal by increasing funding where needed to make sure we stay safe, i.e. no more 9/11's thanks in part to Bush's strong defensive plan with the Patriot Act being a large reason for that success. As someone else here mentioned, as president I wouldn't put up with the mandy pandy dovish moves that a liberal might use, no, I would probably Nuke the entire mideast regions where there are known terrorist facilities or training camps. Sorry Billo, I just couldn't abide by your cut-and-run strategies. I'm also sorry that with a Republican president in office in 2008--Billo won't be getting to see his chicken sh!t policies come into play.

Do you really believe what you say...? A Republican president in 08? You'd be lucky if any republicans managed to hold on to their seats in 08.

Not if Hillary's your candidate and even if she's not I think Giuliani or McCain still have a serious chance.

Giuliani. Maybe. McCain. Not really. He skips around way too much and this will be an issue when the race gets tighter. And Giuliani well... The Harding issue will also be used against him. The fact that Giuliani is known for doing friends favors. Like putting Russell Harding as head of the NYC Housing Dev. Corp. even though the guy didn't have a single clue as to what he was doing(no college degree or even remotely relevant experience for the job). Want to know why? His daddy was Giuliani's mentor. The fact that he rushed recovery efforts once the WTC gold and silver were found will also be key issues.

I'm still hoping Newt jumps in the race and wins the primary, he's a divisive figure but no more so than Hillary. What do you mean by rushed recovery efforts?

Guiliani crushes Hillary, because he takes New York's Electoral Votes home, something every DNC victory model absolutely counts on.

Imagine how Rudy will pull the middle, the Fence sitters, when America realizes that Rudy is their wettest dream, a fiscally conservative patriot, who won't ram the bible down their throats.

LOL! Negotiate with terrorists? What would you say in this "dialogue?" Who would you sit down and talk with? Osama bin Laden?

[*]Revise our foreign policy, where possible and without compromising national security, to address legitimate complaints against the US.
[*]Cut the defense budget in half and use the money to generate growth in the economy and to provide health care for all Americans.

Weaken defense to pay for socialist programs that won't work...

    [*]Repeal the Patriot Act
    [*]Repeal the Military Commissions Act
    [*]End illegal wiretapping

Take away vital tools used to fight the War on Terror...

[*]Arrest Bush, Cheney, their cabinet and advisors, then charge them with Crimes Against Humanity and turn them over to an International Court for trial.

    Laughable...
[*]Outlaw electronic voting machines without paper backup provisions.
[*]Introduce a bill that would make campaign contributions anonomous.
That's just the beginning!

This doesn't have anything to do with the War on Terror.

Talk about an emotional rant completely void of logic and foresight, this has got to be the one! This post, is a total joke! You have shown to have more insight on other posts in other threads, why do you let your emotions get the better of you here?

The defense budget is obscene and totally psychotic in comparison to other defense budgets throughout the world. As far as the programs, I haven't even listed how I would do that, yet you condemn it! Typical Republican crap!

They're not tools to fight terror.
Gonzales, Mueller Admit FBI Broke Law
By Lara Jakes Jordan The Associated Press Saturday 10 March 2007

Washington - The nation's top two law enforcement officials acknowledged Friday the FBI broke the law to secretly pry out personal information about Americans. They apologized and vowed to prevent further illegal intrusions.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales left open the possibility of pursuing criminal charges against FBI agents or lawyers who improperly used the USA Patriot Act in pursuit of suspected terrorists and spies.
They're tools to compromise the US Constitution. Why are you so un-American?

How many first lady's are we going to go through with Rudy (can't keep my vows) Guili-gone-y? With his track record, you think people are going to put him in the Oral Office?

This country is abolutely sick of Republicans! They are completely dead in the water for '08. They might as well sit this one out. They will lose more seats in the next election. They have as much a chance of a comeback as Elvis!

You said you would pull all our troops out of foreign countries. This means you would retreat from the terrorists. This is not very difficult to understand.

Typical liberal wanting to cut defense spending... If anything, we should increase defense spending. Our soldiers deserve higher pay.

I don't agree with these tools being used illegally. If the Patriot Act is Constitutional, why get rid of it?

What does "SFW" stand for?

Up against Hillary, Rudy's marital woes will be irrelevant.

So since a candidate with a "Ward and June Cleaver" style marriage will not be in the race, this will not be an issue.

Rudy only needs one commercial of him leading in New York during 9/11 to win this election, and claims of him making capital from the tragedy will fall on deaf ears, as that is the man's resume, like it or not. Rudy's only problem has been winning a Republican primary, and due to the threat posed by Hillary's big push, this year the GoP will circle the wagons and nominate Rudy in spite of his stance as pro-choice and nice to gay folks, because they know he can beat Hillary.

Hey, Pat, you do know that we're hardly fighting the terrorists as described in the "War On Terror" in Iraq, but instead local militias opposed to our occupation? Okay, just checking!

Rudy's only claim to fame was 9/11. For me, I am personally sick of constant reminders of 9/11! It was a tragedy. But you and Rudy use it as an opportunity. I'm sick of it! Drop the 9/11 references. It wasn't the worse thing this nation had to go through. Going back in recent history, what happened in Dallas was harder for this nation to endure.

Rudy's only claim to fame was 9/11

This is quite simply false.

Rudy was already nationally known having served . . . (from Wiki)
two terms as Mayor of New York City (1994–2001), during which time he was credited by many with improvements in the city's quality of life and with a massive reduction in crime that eventually made New York City the country's safest major city after years of being the "Murder Capital of America".

It is also a rather transparent attempt on your part to downplay a very significant and salient qualification for the job, motivated purely by your own vested emotional interest in the outcome of the 2008 elections. He's gonna crush her, and you don't like it, so you instantly attempt to downplay the best resume in contention.

When was the last time someone went from being the mayor of a place to being president without any more significant job in between? Unfortunately for Rudy, he won't make the nomination, so he might run for Congress and actually try to build up a resume.
