If you were alive during the Civil War....

...would you have fought for the Confederacy, and if so, why?

I've got bad news and worse news. If I was alive (and young) back then I'm sure I would have fought for the confederacy. That's the bad news. The worse news is if I was fighting for the confederacy, we would have won.
 
On one hand the South's use of slaves was disgusting.

On the other hand, I do believe in states' rights.

On yet another hand, I do not believe secession is a right of the state. The constitution is not a mere compact.

I would not fight for the confederacy.
