Of course, the reason is obvious: Trump's taxes on foreign goods and metals is the reason. Stanley Black and Decker says tariffs on these tools have cost them $800M, so sorry customer, you're going to have to pay for Trump's taxes.

Of course there are many other choices in tools. I personally don't own any DeWalt or Craftsman tools, but I can't imagine Trump's taxes are not similarly affecting other manufacturers. It's just a matter of time before other makers charge more (if they aren't already).

Other than Christmas and things that break, my guess is that we'll be considering purchases more carefully. The current trade war is ****ing stupid, and I'm not enthusiastic about participating.

Same here. My normal schedule would be trading in car in 2 years. Now I'll wait til the Idiot in Chief is gone.
 
Our consumer economy has absorbed about as much of the tariffs as they could. P&L statements are hitting and everyone whose job it is to hold profit margins have squeezed as much as they could out of old inventory and creative accounting.

The bill is due.
 
A tariff is just a tax increase and tax increases make us worse off. I'm glad we all agree on that point.

Free trade is the way. Let people buy from whomever they want. If American capitalists can't compete, too f'n bad.

Luckily, all my DeWalt tools are in good working order. I don't anticipate needing anything replaced anytime soon. I own enough Craftsman tools for three mechanics to work from. They are all under a lifetime guarantee.
 
I dont need any tools right now.
Is like some deep socket shit but tool wise im ok.
Still sucks though.
