Subject line says it all:

If you deny American democracy, you have NO right to vote.
Why should a democracy extend voting rights to people who insist we are not a democracy?
WHY?
Voting is the cornerstone of our representative democracy, and in the last few years a growing number of denialist papers and books have emerged that claim we are not nor have we ever been a democracy, and since we exercise our democratic rights by voting in elections, for a denier to vote is the ultimate attack on democracy AND the ultimate hypocrisy COMBINED.

But why should the rest of the country be forced to accommodate such a ridiculous theory?
Let the deniers live without the right to vote, they should be happy. They should be overjoyed to be relieved of such a burden.

If you insist that the Earth is flat, getting on an airplane is the ultimate hypocrisy, therefore flat earthers should not be allowed to board any aircraft.
And democracy deniers must surrender their voting rights forever.

This is a quibble about semantics. He isn’t denying we have a right to vote, I think you know that.

You're right that it is extremely hypocritical of opponents of democracy to vote. But they do not lose their right to vote unless they succeed in actually voting out that right.

I havent seen any deniers, but then I have not been reading much lately.....are they denying the US is a Representative Democracy, or just "Democracy" in General?

I know some like to play hair splitting word games; was it something like that?

Or is it more on line with CT level denying?

If we were a democracy Hillary would be president now. We're a republic made up of individual states.

Actually we are both. That we are not a direct democracy is irrelevant, because we are a representative democracy, at least in theory.

This is a quibble about semantics. He isn’t denying we have a right to vote, I think you know that.

If America is not a democracy then nobody has the right to vote because voting IS the exercise of democracy by the people.
I am only offering a very reasonable solution: If you insist we are not a democracy then surely that is something only allowed to people who DO believe in it.
Democracy deniers should cheerfully surrender their voting rights.
And if they don't, then it should happen by force.
Voluntary compliance is our goal and their cooperation is important, but it is not necessary.

Oh Hell no.
If you renounce your citizenship, your surrender of it happens immediately upon acceptance of your renouncement.
As soon as you file, the process begins and once your filing is accepted, BLAMMO, you are no longer a US citizen.

Democracy deniers must file an affadavit that says that they renounce democracy, and upon acceptance, they should lose that right. If they continue to insist, then said affadavit should be filed on their behalf in order to support due process.

Yes, I know the difference between direct (aka "Athenian") democracy and representative democracy.
It's people like Adverse and his fellow Dennis Prager loving buddies who insist that democracy is democracy is democracy A equals A equals A ad nauseum.

There is an entire thread started by @Captain Adverse, probably the fourth or fifth one in as many months, flatly stating that the United States IS NOT and never HAS been a democracy, buttressed by Utah Senator Mike Lee, who by the way also loses HIS voting rights immediately. He may continue as a non-voting delegate.

Your frustration is valid. Your solution is not.

As a parallel, anyone who truly favors the right to free speech should favor open demonstrations against free speech. Said free speech supporter doesn't have to agree, but to avoid hypocrisy they should let that demonstration go on.

Oh, I am sure that my "solution" feels like a kick in the teeth to democracy deniers.
It's for a very good reason because they should be forced to live without.

Did you ever read a short story called "The Man Without a Country"?
Start there.

There are different usages of the word.

We are not a pure democracy. We don’t have a right to vote on every bill that is proposed in senate for example.

Hey man, it's you guys who are running around with your hair on fire trying to force everybody to mouth "America is not a democracy".
It's like you think you're the teacher forcing Bart Simpson to write on the board or something...

America is not democracy.jpg

You guys refuse to just STFU about it. As another member just said,
it's a chunk of RW revisionist nonsense that refuses to die and that's despite the fact that you
guys get a giant mudhole stomped in you each and every time you trot it out, along with your equally
moronic "Hitler was a leftist" bullsh*t which you ALSO know is a lie.
But, in true Goebellian fashion, repeat it often enough and you think it will BECOME the truth
because your understanding of facts is holy rollerish enough that you think BELIEF IS FACT.

And...EACH and EVERY time, WE start off by patiently explaining that DIRECT democracy is not around anymore
because it tanked on its maiden voyage in Athens two and a half millennia ago, and what we have bears no resemblance.
Nope, not good enough, you guys just keep upping the ante until it is YOU who look like this, not us

HaironFire (2019_02_27 17_41_55 UTC).jpg which of course is due to the fact that you view democracy as this: hair on fire commie.jpg

Obviously to you, democracy means DEMOCRATS and Democrats are all commies, right?
So you feel compelled to stamp out democracy so that you can stamp out the evil commie Demoncrats.
There is only ONE USE of the f*cking word, representative democracy in a republic, which by the way by definition
ALSO means democracy because republics are governed by the people, hence democracy.

Unless you're a student of Ancient Greek History, direct democracy is nonexistent.
It is you people who are insisting that representative democracy means the same thing as direct democracy.
And we get what you're about, you're attempting to invalidate voting altogether.

First step in that is to breed contempt for democracy! Yaaaayy!!
The only people who have ever implied that we are a direct or pure democracy is you people.
We can't help it that you're addicted to hatred and contempt for democracy but as of today,
we shall fix your problem by intercepting your votes and turning you away by force if need be from
ALL polling places.
You shall never be allowed to vote again.

I'm really only upset that no one thought of this solution a decade ago when your whispering campaign started.
We should be the side practicing voter suppression, suppression of democracy deniers en masse.
And it should be large enough to be seen from outer space so that your cousins the Flat Earthers are forced to see it too.

They vote in Russia, China, and North Korea - does that mean they're democracies. The mere act of voting doesn't define whether or not you have a democracy.

you have that

just another leftist that has no clue about the definitions of words.

similar to open minded and inclusiveness and tolerant.

Oh, so you don't understand the definition of FAILED democracy either.
And as for North Korea, if you understand that their use of the word "Democratic" is 100% false then you should have NO difficulty understanding why "National Socialist Workers Party" does not mean Hitler was a socialist.

In China and North Korea, it's YES or NO and few dare to vote NO, for obvious reasons.
Russia "experimented" for a few brief years after the fall of the USSR and that frightened Putin enough that he has tightened the screws to the point where it is indeed a FAILED democracy, a democracy in name only at this point because to run against Putin is to get a lump of Polonium in your tea or some Novichok rubbed on your face.

But none of it changes the fact that voting IS the means by which democracy is exercised in a republic, but seeing as how you cannot comprehend the danger of attacking democracy and how that results in this country BECOMING Putin's failed democracy, I am afraid you will need to get a refund from PragerU and actually take a real Civics class for a change.

Don't even THINK of trying to vote, denier.

Please, Lord, don't let Trump supporters exercise their democratic right to vote.

You're getting wrapped around the axle for semantic hair-splitting. With the except of state or local level measures we don't vote directly for laws. And we have very little control of our representatives after we elect them. Once elected over 95% are re-elected over and over.

I don't recall ever saying voting WASN'T the way we choose our representatives. And don't even think of trying to deny me or any other American the right to vote. NEVER.

It's NOT hair splitting.
Mike Lee is screeching like a Navy claxon horn and has been for an entire week, and now Fox News morons are leaping to his defense, and countless Trumpers on DP are all screeching "Amurrika iz not a dumocrucee".
So stop projecting.
