There are approx 550 billionaires in the US. If we took ALL their money we would have around 2.5 trillion dollars. That would run the government 7 to 8 months.

The problem remains the Fed Government spends TOO DAMN MUCH MONEY!!!!!

You assume they have it all sitting in cash in an account somewhere. Liquidate Bezos and you would be lucky to get a quarter on the dollar.

Which is why no one is calling for taking all their money. Any other strawmen to attack?

Your illiteracy- fiscal, political and English- aside, Trump borrowed a trillion and a half, just to give a massive tax break to the rich. The plain old millionaires also got a huge tax break. In fact, for 40 years the repubs have been playing this trickledown fascism to the detriment of this nation.

Why are you even writing about **** you don't understand?

So...this thread is just dumb obviously, but I'm curious... are you counting just individual billionaires, or are you counting corporations too?

Funny how Republicans always run the deficit up more than Democrats then, isn't it?

Clinton turned a deficit into a surplus. Bush turned a surplus into 1.4 trillion in a yearly deficit. Obama turned that 1.4 trillion into 550 billion. Trump turned that 550 billion into over a trillion.....but then he lied and denied about COVID.

Trump will hand Biden a 4 trillion dollar yearly deficit.

It's not a spending problem. It's a Republican problem.

And talking about "spending problem" vs "revenue problem" is stupid in the extreme. It's necessarily both, but where neither party can agree on what spending to cut, the only remaining question is whether we want to raise taxes to pay for what we spend or not.

It is the radical left that wants to take virtually all the money rich people have. But the fact remains for the last 40 years and more the Washington swamp has been blowing far more money than they have taken in. All the money rich people have is a drop in the bucket compared to the national debt.

WASHINGTON NEEDS TO CUT SPENDING. We need an balance budget amendment.

Defense is a prime government responsibility "provide for the common defense" sound familiar? Building bike trails in Democratic districts, aka Obama Stimupork, is not.

But people are calling to take THEIR money, when it's not THEIR money that's the problem. It's the debt the US is getting itself into.

As soon as the democrats get in office they will start taking it from corporations and when those start to cut jobs, they will raise taxes on everyone in the upper 50%. Anyone who votes for democrats and has seen their agenda of spending is going to reap what they sow with those votes.

Trump is spending trillions

Man you love massive government spending. You and trump

And George W and Bush senior and Reagan before him. They all tried their best to tipple the debt they inherited, the fascists. That any Repub is brave enough to call themselves fiscally conservative is the biggest ****ing con job ever perpetrated upon the people of the USA. It's as if reality plays no part in how people feel entitled to define themselves.

Objectively, both parties spend but only the liberals seem to want to pay for it now. The "conservatives", with all of their perpetual "socialism" for the rich (fascism) are content to bubble and bust their way to infamy. Fifty years the democratic party controlled the congress. In that time we had five decades without any bank runs or stock market crashes. When Reagan perpetrated his coup, conspiring with an enemy to win the election (sound familiar) and gain power, the debt was less than ONE trillion. He immediately cut taxes recklessly and thrust our nation into recession. He then began the now 40 year old republican strategy of borrow massively, cut taxes to the wealthy, make our economy military-dependent and decrease spending on the general welfare of the people.

I would encourage modern conservatives who are still selling this fiscal **** sandwich as delicious to be ashamed. However, Trump is the very epitome of the modern conservative, shameless, arrogant and oblivious to the harm caused by their fiscal religion that has thoroughly raped our country.

We've had several crises in this country. Now, maybe democrats are finally rejecting Keynes, which I think is good, but general, in a times of crisis, is when you want the government to spend money to patch the ship up.
