There are corroborated sources saying it is true, and others are saying it is not. That does not make something a total lie. If anything, it means we should not be hasty in judging it as either true or false and wait for more evidence/information. Who erroneously told you it was a total lie?

ex. He did not call his wife at home in 2018 when he was in France to visit WWI grave site to explain why he was going to attend the event. His wife was with him on the trip.
