What would have happened if Britain had conceded and given the US far representation and stopped it's mercantilist policies?

I rather think that the US would be very nearly the same, accept we would own England, kind of. Assuming that the US expanded similarly, the US population would equal that of Britain's by the 1820's, and soon they would be in control of the government. Surely the throne might even be moved to the Eastern US by 1900. Then the American part of England 3 or 4 times the population. By now the American part of "England" would be in total control, having 6 times the population.

More likely there would have been a gradual evolution towards self-determination with continued ties to GB, along the lines of Canada and Australia.

This is doubtful. Part of the cause of the Revolution was Britain stifling colonial expansion in order to honor its treaties with bordering tribes.

Without the land, our population wouldn't have been able to increase as rapidly.

Well, things might be better off maybe. Who knows.

For a short answer it was inevertable

That's probably true. But what if a true alliance could have been made?

It's an interesting question. A lot of alt.history writers like to write about how history would have changed given a Confederate victory in the American Civil War-- but I'm a little curious as to what things would have looked like with a different outcome of the Iroquois Civil War.

Unfortunately, I don't have nearly the history background to speculate myself.

A very interesting point. However I believe that if the red coats of the time were as negotiable, the entire declaration of independence would never have been signed or made up.
