Angela Merkel addressed the Bundestang, taking a hard line against the democratic decision of the people of the UK, mentioning privileges that would be withdrawn from Britain.

It was the same day that we were reminded, as if we needed reminding, of the violent potential of her bizarre open border policies in the deadly attack at the Istanbul airport. Repeated terrorist attacks in Europe have confirmed the fears of Leave voters in the UK. By God, they were right, and they were right to decide that leaving the EU was the only way to protect their home, not less their jobs and economic wellbeing.

But according to the geniuses among the pundit class, worries about immigration are nothing more than racism and xenophobia. And an uncontrolled flood of illegal immigration of Merkel's sort is nothing to worry about. Even as you see the violence all over Europe and in your own communities.

Yet again we see that if the elites of the EU had taken the concerns of ordinary people seriously and had acted to address them a Brexit could have been avoided and threatened further breakup of the EU would not be a worry.

Merkel's rhetoric now though indicates that she has learned nothing from this disaster. She still thinks her policy is right. And so does the rest of the EU bureaucracy, which is going on as if nothing happened. It portends further disintegration of the EU.

Angela Merkel addressed the Bundestang, taking a hard line against the democratic decision of the people of the UK, mentioning privileges that would be withdrawn from Britain.

And she is right.

It was the same day that we were reminded, as if we needed reminding, of the violent potential of her bizarre open border policies in the deadly attack at the Istanbul airport. Repeated terrorist attacks in Europe have confirmed the fears of Leave voters in the UK. What open border policies? You are making things up. Merkel said Germany would take refugees.. not migrants. They are in the process of deporting a huge number of migrants, all of the illegal. Also there were far more terror attacks in the 1970s-90s than there are now.

But according to the geniuses among the pundit class, worries about immigration are nothing more than racism and xenophobia.

It is. That is very clear thing coming out of the Brexit vote. The attacks against Muslims in the UK has gone up 200% in a year, and the amount of xenophobic and racist attacks since Brexit has exploded in numbers. It has to do with anti- Muslim views, people of colour and general fear of anyone foreign.. aka xenophobia.

And an uncontrolled flood of illegal immigration of Merkel's sort is nothing to worry about. Even as you see the violence all over Europe and in your own communities.

Wait what? You were talking about immigration, and suddenly you switch to illegal immigration? Big difference. No country in Europe welcomes illegal immigration. Merkel has never been "pro illegal immigration". Germany are kicking more and more illegals out. Can they do more? Yes, but it does require them changing the laws so places like Algeria become "safe place". This has and is being done.

Yet again we see that if the elites of the EU had taken the concerns of ordinary people seriously and had acted to address them a Brexit could have been avoided and threatened further breakup of the EU would not be a worry.

So called ordinary people have been misled.. as we have seen with the Brexit vote. The far right uses fear to promote their policy of hatred and xenophobia. It is a typical method of gaining power by minority groups. Hitler did it very well.

Merkels stance on Brexit is the correct one, and a wise one.

First off demanding that the Brits get on with it is a political wise choice. And it is a ploy, because she and others know very well that the Brits cant get on with it, because of the political disaster that is currently going on in the UK.

Secondly the delay by the Brits increases the insecurities for companies in the UK. Hence the longer it goes on, the more the chance that companies move their businesses to the EU. The union of car manufactures has stated that access to the common market is key for its members.. Gove one of the PM candidates is against the common market. Hence the 800k+ jobs in the industry are under serious threat of moving to Europe. The longer the political instability goes on in the UK, the bigger and bigger the chance that the production moves. Another company that is seriously thinking of moving is Vodafone.. which would be politically a slap in the face, since Vodafone was started in the UK.

So you can, along with your right wing friends, continue bang on about how bad the EU is (but the US is great... right?) and it will collapse.. the same thing they have been saying for 2 decades now.. but the reality is that the country that is closer to break up is the UK, and not the EU.

And she is right.

I'll need some citations for the stuff about illegal immigrants being deported from the EU. What's the difference between large numbers of refugees and large numbers of immigrants? They are pretty much the same thing.

Violence against immigrants? Who could have foreseen that? I mean to say, take away people's jobs, make it hard for them to find a place to live, etc., and who would have guessed that people would get angry? I can't think of a single wave of immigrants in the US that wasn't met by a prejudice, bigotry, and occasional violence. Nevertheless, a source for that would be nice. Official reports only, please.

Regardless of what Germany is doing about immigrants it's obviously not enough. Where are these crowds of people storming the Chunnel entrance in France coming from?

There are already a lot of immigrants in the UK who are driving wages down and housing prices up and straining infrastructure and support services. People are supposed to be accepting of many more immigrants?

Elites are really good at insulting ordinary people and dismissing their concerns. They still haven't learned a thing. The traditional remedy for this was to hang a few of the leaders and scribes from the lamp posts and then the rest fall in line. I hope it doesn't come to that sort of thing.

You sound like the propaganda drumbeat. The simple fact at this moment is that the next UK government has the okay by referendum to option out of the EU. *) Until then, it is able to influence EU decisions from within and block them, where unanimity is required. As the EU members well know, they have to change the EU considerably or risk losing control to popular and/or progressive movements and parties all around the continent. They also know how embarrassing and potentially dangerous flirting with Scotland could become as separatist movements within member states see this too. So the EU must get moving to save the present elite and possibly even the project. And the UK is in side.

So let's see, what happens. The first fights are breaking out and the EU is demonstrating the main problem with it and for it and its populations quite nicely.

*)What is, by the way, the legal status of the extra concessions made before the referendum. I have not seen the text, have you?

The EU is certainly projecting a rather poor image.

I'll need some citations for the stuff about illegal immigrants being deported from the EU.

You wont because the EU does not deport anyone, the individual countries do that, just as they set their own immigration (external) rules and treaties with the countries these illegals come from. Which means France has a relatively easy time deporting Algerians but Denmark does not..

What's the difference between large numbers of refugees and large numbers of immigrants? They are pretty much the same thing.

Hell no they are not the same thing. Refugees are people seek asylum from war or political persecution, where as immigrants (illegal) are people who are coming to work. A HUGE portion of the people last year were illegal immigrants... people from Albanian, Serbia and North Africa. These will be deported. But it is up to Germany to do this, not the EU or anyone else.

Violence against immigrants? Who could have foreseen that? I mean to say, take away people's jobs, make it hard for them to find a place to live, etc., and who would have guessed that people would get angry?

But they dont take peoples jobs, because most locals dont want the jobs.

I can't think of a single wave of immigrants in the US that wasn't met by a prejudice, bigotry, and occasional violence. Nevertheless, a source for that would be nice. Official reports only, please.

Its been all over the news the last week.. come on.... you been living in a bubble?

Regardless of what Germany is doing about immigrants it's obviously not enough. Where are these crowds of people storming the Chunnel entrance in France coming from?

But that is French laws and rules.. has nothing to do with Germany. The whole Chunnel issue is political. The French could fix that very quickly but there is no motivation to do so. The main blocker of immigration reform in the EU was the UK, so the French saw no reason to do anything because of this.. and I understand them fully. What will happen now, is that the camps will move to the UK, because France will demand that the UK move its border to the UK and not have it in France.

There are already a lot of immigrants in the UK who are driving wages down and housing prices up and straining infrastructure and support services. People are supposed to be accepting of many more immigrants?

And it is bull****. Immigrants might add to the problem but they are not causing it. Those that who are causing it are the politicians. They are the ones who have not planned well enough and put in place laws and rules that make housing harder to build. Blaming immigrants is a cop-out by the politicans and the people.. so much easier than actually fixing the problem. If the UK kicked out every non-citizen, then there STILL would be a housing problem and STILL be a strain on healthcare... and it would mean a much larger budget deficit.. why? Because EU migrants pay far far far more into the system to pay for these things than they actually take out (aka use).

Elites are really good at insulting ordinary people and dismissing their concerns. They still haven't learned a thing. The traditional remedy for this was to hang a few of the leaders and scribes from the lamp posts and then the rest fall in line. I hope it doesn't come to that sort of thing.

When those concerns are blamed based on falsehoods, pushed by politicians who use the insecurity to gain political power.. then what do you do? The evidence is out there debunking pretty much every single Brexit claim and yet people still voted to leave. Brexit blamed immigrants for all the problems and promised to deal with it.. and yet now, they are saying Britain needs immigrants.. eerr okay, but a week ago you were saying to people that you would kick them out and that is what people voted for.. because they had been told for decades that it was all the foreigners fault.

What are you talking about? The deal the UK made before the referendum? That is null and void.

Until then, it is able to influence EU decisions from within and block them, where unanimity is required.

On paper yes, but in reality no. It has no commissioner anymore, since he has resigned. The government is in shambles and run by a caretaker government who is against the referendum result. The UK will abstain on everything I suspect.

As the EU members well know, they have to change the EU considerably or risk losing control to popular and/or progressive movements and parties all around the continent.

And you are accusing me of propaganda? For once back up this bull****. WHAT changes are needed? You cant keep pushing this bull**** without providing some sort of information on what changes are needed.

They also know how embarrassing and potentially dangerous flirting with Scotland could become as separatist movements within member states see this too. So the EU must get moving to save the present elite and possibly even the project. And the UK is in side.

What embarrassing flirt? yes it is dangerous.. for Spain mostly, because of Catalonia, but the only country that is embarassed is the UK. Its whole political establishment is in turmoil and its regions are debating independence... Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

So let's see, what happens. The first fights are breaking out and the EU is demonstrating the main problem with it and for it and its populations quite nicely.

WHAT FIGHTS!? The only fighting going on is in the UK!

What are you talking about? The deal the UK made before the referendum? That is null and void.

...

Is it? I don't know, how the text was formulated. Do you have it? I would love to read it and do not really want to make the phone calls. But, since you know, maybe you could be so kind?

Punish the British for defying the fourth Reich. What more proof does the world need to know that British people did the right thing.
