Joe Lieberman (D-CT) lost his primary election by 52%-48%. The main difference between his positions and his opponent's, were that Lieberman supported the war against Islamic fascists, where his opponent favored pulling out immediately and letting Iraq go back to the terrorists. The Democrat extremists in Connecticut played up this difference for all they were worth, and Lieberman lost.

If the election were held after the recent major plot was revealed to blow up ten airliners with 2,000+ people on board, how many of the CT voters would have changed their vote from Lamont to Lieberman, do you suppose? Enough to give him the edge?

We'll never know.

I highly doubt it.

By the way, you are clearly not following the rules for the "breaking news" subject title. Why don't you read them?

Moved to US Election since there's no news story.

Why would this help Lieberman? If anything, it shows exactly why we shouldn't be in IRAQ in the the first place.

The fact that the reports are saying that this originated from the Pakistan/Afghanistan border....it would seem to imply that maybe....just maybe.....Bush should have kept his sites on Bin Laden/Al Qaeda rather than attack Iraq.

It would seem to me that this is just further evidence on GWB's ineptness and another reason why Lieberman was wrong in kissing up to this president.
