Yes, in Texas, a Republican run State. Did you have a Point?

You do know that Houston is Texas's largest city?
Oh man....
You do know that public health laws are made by a Republican state legislature. Oh, my.
i'm pissed off that people are having family gatherings on the fourth like nothing is going on.
Yes,
Houston a major city in Texas, that is Democrat controlled(wink)
Coronavirus cases have seen new highs in Texas over the past few weeks, but even though a group of mayors in the state is concerned enough to want to require citizens to wear protective masks, Gov. Greg Abbott doesn’t believe in forcing the issue.
The mayors of Arlington, Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Houston, Plano and San Antonio sent Abbott a request that they be allowed to mandate masks on Tuesday, and they were met with a clear “no” from the governor’s office. Though Abbott has attempted to stress the importance of wearing masks to protect against an increase in infections, he has staunchly opposed any sort of penalties for those who refuse.
Texas governor denies mayors' plea to mandate coronavirus masks - New York Daily News
The response to a pandemic is top-down. The more cohesive a pandemic response is on a national level, the more effective it will be. Trump decided to ignore the pandemic outright or fight governors who tried executing an effective response, the result being that on a national level the pandemic management was spotty and often pointless. And in red states where governors fought mayors' attempts to manage the response, those responses became even spottier and more useless without coordination at a higher level.
But you don't know how to do math or know basic mathematical concepts that a fourth grader would know, so I fully expect everything I just said to go right over your head.

But the good citizens of Houston are Majority democrat.
Why must there be a Mandate to wear a mask?

I live here, maybe the Texas Flag as my Avatar would be a clue, even for you (wink, wink).
FYI most Texas cities are run by Dems, what you don't grasp is Political Party is rarely a factor in Mayoral Elections here. I will also remind you that it was the Governor that refused to mandate masks, that is until opening up too soon bite him, and us, in he rear end. One other clue for ya, the virus does not give a chit what Party you belong to, it is an equal opportunity virus and wishing it away is as stupid as it gets.

don't gather in large groups during a pandemic.
Texas does have a statewide mask mandate now.
COVID doesn't care about political lean.
All the partisan fault-finding is stupid.
Most people who get the virus show Nada, zero, zelda and zilch as far as having any symptoms
Endangering every American at Mt. Rushmore yesterday. Just another day of dereliction-of-duty would be a high crime for a Democrat.Texas can do like Cuomo did...just move the patients to nursing homes.
