If Everyone Had A gun, 4th Of July Parades Would Be safe

An AR-15 is a semi-auto weapon, just like hunting rifles are, handguns are, etc. What makes an AR-15 more dangerous than a hunting rifle? Is it the color?

In the case of the Highland Park shooter, he should have been flagged by the Illinois State Police and should not have been able to purchase a gun. But since this didn't happen, coupled with the fact that his father signed for him to be able to purchase a gun, who is really to blame for this?
Every rifle cannot do what a high powered rifle can do.

  • A doctor who was at the scene of the Highland Park shooting said he witnessed "horrific injuries." Dr. David Baum described victims' wounds as "the kind of injuries you probably see in wartime." He also described seeing "massive amounts of blood" at the scene.
  • A Uvalde, Texas, pediatrician describes the horror of seeing the elementary school children's bodies 'ripped apart'.
  • The bullets fired by an AR-15 are different: They travel at a higher velocity and are far more lethal than routine bullets fired from a handgun, say Parkland shooting doctor

Question: How do criminals obtain guns?
Until the advent of "ghost guns", virtually every "bad guy with a gun" got his weapon, directly or indirectly, from a "good guy with a gun" including, as you note, when the "good guy with a gun" became the "bad guy with a gun". Millions of guns move from the legal market to the black market every year.

I have no interest in participating in "hypotheticals." The fact remains that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

That is REALITY.

So, you can give up your guns and you can live the life you choose.

I will continue to support the right of all citizens to make that personal choice to keep or not to keep, and I will NEVER support your idea of what you think it should not be.

Period!
If
"So, my first question for you is this. Has any single one of that "closet full of guns" ever walked out of that closet on its own and shot a single person?"
is not a 'hypothetical,' it is pure fantasy, and an impossible reality.

Legislative facts can and do change - the Constitution has and will change. That's reality.

You are entirely correct. High powered rifles cause "cavitation" injuries, not present with lower speed rounds from pistols. They "rip the flesh apart". That's how they are designed. It's also why many hunting rounds are designed to mushroom upon impact, to stop overpenetration and fragmentation that spoils meat.

There is not a rational thinking human being who cares about their fellow man that thinks that weapons never dreamed about 200 plus years ago should be broadly available to the public with no more restrictions than a hand gun.
