If al Qaeda's on the run, why are so many U.S. missions closed this week?

How exactly, as President Obama has so often declared, is al Qaeda on the path to defeat if one long-distance message exchange between two senior terrorists can cause the world's No. 1 superpower to shutter 19 different diplomatic installations across an entire region for at least one week?

Eleven months ago the Obama administration, in the form of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, was caught with its pantsuit down by a deadly terrorist attack on the Benghazi consulate on Sept. 11 -- Gee, who would ever expect a Mideast terror attack on Americans around 9/11? Coming one month after consulate security there was, to use a popular administration term, decimated against local advice.

So, it's good 55 months into his own reign of error, that Obama seems to be finally looking out for the security of government personnel overseas. These are brave people, like our military, who deserve better White House leadership.

Despite the imminent threat of terror attacks, Obama found time last night to chat up Jay Leno and give him a toy car. The Democrat will visit California's Camp Pendleton today for a photo op to show how much he appreciates the Marine Corps for holding his umbrella on rainy days.

Because our president opposed them being open to begin with, and when the rumors started, he jumped at a 'legitimate chance' to slam the gates shut.

In reality: we're only giving them what they want - you should never feel 'forced to close' down such areas during times of unease or war. That should be done in peacetime. Even if you don't agree with them being open in the first place.

Starting in 2017 there will be a new Democrat in the White House. Try to be just as noice to that person as you have been with Barack Obama.

"Better days are coming." But not for today's out of touch, running out of time, GOP.
