I'm guessing the problem is centered around lifting the main cannon's ammo, and probably some of the mechanical maintenance work required to keep a tank running as well.

They just lack the physical strength for it, particularly in the upper body. I know a number of artillery guys who screwed their backs up for life lifting shells for their vehicles' main guns.

What a a load of crap (the report).

Anyone who says that ALL women cannot psychologically handle operating a tank in combat is either stupid and/or chauvinistic and/or down right misogynistic.

I mean, how stupid can you be?

To say that 'all those women tested' could not handle it is okay. They are statistics.

But to presuppose that EVERY, single Israeli woman eligible for the military cannot psychologically handle operating a tank in combat is absolute nonsense. They have not tested EVERY, single woman..so they cannot know whether EVERY, single woman can handle it or not.

So, either the people that wrote this report are so incredibly stupid that they actually believe the report is true or (hopefully for their sakes) they know it is nonsense, but they are against women in the tanks, so they say all of them cannot handle it so they do not have to let any woman try and prove them wrong (and probably misogynistic).

This report just solidifies what I found when I was in the military...there are some truly great people serving. BUT, some of the most misogynistic people I have ever met were/are soldiers.

You realise the point of a military is to fight effectively, not to make everyone feel included, right? If only 25% of women are physiologically capable of serving in a tank, then you're wasting 75% of your women tank training budget on people who will flunk out.

Sorry but that does not hold water. Many men are not fit for military duty and are cut.. and get no where near training.

This is the same bull**** we have heard time and time again about women in the military. Women were banned from jets because they were physically incapable... well that is bull****, as we know today that women have a higher threshold for pain and g-forces, so they are actually better pilots..physically. Now that does not mean they are better in tanks but they should have the opportunity for ANY job in the military if they physically can do them, just like every man has the chance but far far from every man is physically able to do every job.

A good 90% to 99% of women are going to fall into that category from square one on forward. Fast reflexes and keen eyesight are more important for a jet pilot than either of those things. In those regards, men tend to outclass women by a significant margin.

That's not to say that women can't do the job of course. They obviously can, because it doesn't require anything that women are fundamentally incapable of.

However, they are still only a very small minority of pilots, and they are hardly "better." At best, they are "on par."
