Barely two hours into the first day of trial for accused cop killer Luis Bracamontes, the proceedings devolved into a spectacle of the defendant threatening to kill more people, giggling as a prosecutor described his 2014 crime spree and his own lawyers once again questioning his sanity.
“I wish I had killed more of the mother——-,” Bracamontes boasted to the jury as prosecutor Rod Norgaard described the 2014 crime spree that killed two area deputies.
“I will break out soon and I will kill more, kill whoever gets in front of me…There’s no need for a f—— trial,” he added.
Bracamontes, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, is on trial along with his wife, Janelle Monroy. The pair are accused of a daylong crime spree that killed Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer sheriff’s Deputy Michael Davis Jr. and wounded a number of other victims.
Bracamontes faces the death penalty; his wife faces life if convicted.

This guy is the scum of the earth. Two families lost their loved one because of him, and he laughs in court, saying he'll kill more people the second he's free.
Since he's admitted he's guilty, the State should execute him ASAP.
Agreed. The case of Giuseppe Zangara comes to mind. He admitted that he killed Chicago mayor Anton Cermack while trying to kill President-elect Franklin Roosevelt in early 1933 in Miami. From the time of the crime to the day of his execution was five weeks.
They didn't play footsies with killers back then. I've gotta hand it to em, they were tough back then.

I am a supporter of the death penalty providing that the accused receive a fair trial with all the resources the state has including good attorneys and a budget for things like testing and expert witnesses. And there should be an automatic appeal where the convicted person can raise ALL of the issues they want to appeal. And once both of those things happen, then the execution should take place. I do not delude myself into thinking the Zangara five weeks will ever happen again. But I would think two years is plenty of time for a trial and appeal.
I think that there should be 5 member panel of judges and prosecuting attorneys with a history of being willing to seek or hand down death sentences (to avoid those who would never agree to a death sentence) who should review every death sentence case (I'd give them two months). If they unanimously agree that a death sentence is warranted, then the execution is carried out within the month. Have the panel drawn from a pool of 20-30 retired judges and prosecuting attorneys.
Take note. The guy is nuts. That's a mental case. I think they should lock him up with killer cops that "fear for their life." Peas in a pod.

JEB Bush would call this an act of love and the people of California probably think this guy is just a poor soul who is misunderstood.
