I think one of the ways that they should try to stop some of the abortions is a woman before having one should have to watch one! People that take the responsiblity to go to bed with somebody and make a baby should have to go through with the birth of that child, if that is an unwanted baby, then they are millions of couples looking for babies to raise that can't have them! This would knock out some of the percentage of STDs in America! Once people are made to take responsibility! Abortion is a quick way out for something that shouldn't have happened to begin with! It is cruel and painful, not just for the baby, most of the time for the woman emotionally! As for all the comments about controlling people, and for the woman not having a CHOICE.....what about that childs choice!!!!!!!! That woman that is pregnant made her choice when she concieved that child! Now the child should have a choice!

The child has a choice? I was unaware that they were of the mental acuity to make such a choice. Let alone our understanding their choice.

Let me guess, its your presumption that the child's "choice" is life, right?

What makes you think that women who have abortions are ignorant as to what they are and what they entail?

The doctors and nurses are very forthcoming with information. Both verbal and via video. As it should be. I agree that a person should know exactly what's going to happen with any medical procedure they're going to have done.. abortion is no different. But, that information is given... same as any other medical procedure.

That is the most absurd bullshit I have ever read. No one makes you watch an appendectomy before you have one and so no one should be made to watch an abortion. Both are valid medical procedures. Further, a fetus expresses the same "choice" as the appendix...which is none.

Hysterical much?

The information is not given about what a woman might go through after she has time to think about this....I have NEVER had an abortion but I have worked with people that have and I know what I am talking about! They are people that actually have a emotional problem with this later! The questions that was never answered! It is really hard on some women after they do this. Why is it all men responding to all of this anyway.....

Their emotional problems come from hysterical, misogynist, oppressionist pro-lifers calling them sluts and whores and monstrous baby killers beforehand as a means of guilting them out of a valid medical decision. Afterwards they run the risk of being called hellish murderers if they talk about their experience. It isn't the abortion that causes the emotional distress, it's hateful anti-choice morons who think that insulting and emotionally badgering a woman makes her choices less valid.

Jallman.....most women are made to watch tapes! I didn't say it wasn't a valid medical procedure I just don't think they should be a medical procedure to get somebody out of their responsibilities!!!!!! Do you know when you have sex with somebody they are that chance they will get pregnant? Of course you do, then why do we have unwanted babies? Because people won't take the responsibility and do the right thing, a quick way out!

Jallman.....who is calling the women all those things other than you, it wasn't me!

I can assure you that when I have sex, there is absolutely no way anyone is going to get pregnant.

And besides, consent to sex is not automatic consent to pregnancy. I'm sorry you have a difficult time with women who express their sexuality with impunity, but that's their right.

Here's a woman responding girlfriend!
I've seen many abortions and I would have one tomorrow if I fell pregnant.
If you wouldn't, I respesct your choice, but please respect mine.
I've worked with many people who've had abortions and I know what I'm talking about. The majority do fine if they don't have anti-abortion lunatics throwing unjustified guilt at them.

I'm a doctor honey, and I've also been a volunteer at women's projects for more years than you've had hot dinners. Your involvement is??? And if you mention church.......

The fact that you would go on a forum calling yourself "momof4boys" speaks reams. Somebody pass me the sick bowl. I demand IV Primperan, NOW.
What REALLY makes me sick is that people like you have the arrogance to think you know how ALL women will react. Get back to making your apple pie mommy, and leave free women to make their own choices.

Did the word YOU ever get used as a subject in those sentences. I didn't think so. Please, dear...make a real point if you are going to waste bandwidth posting.

I actually kind of agree. I think a part of sex ed should be an aborted fetus in a jar. Just to kind of get a glimpse of what the issue is all about without words getting in the way. They could have various jars that had different gestational ages. I think it would be informative and give kids a better understanding of what exactly is involved in choice and I believe high school kids could handle it. Obviously they should be allowed to "opt out" of looking if so inclined.

I disagree that women should be forced to view an abortion prior to having one though as that is just very vulgar and the woman is probably in an emotionally stressed state anyway and while it might not change her mind about her choice it might haunt her later and increase the chance that the whole thing has disturbing mental side affects. I'm not really up for promoting that.

I think every woman in early pregnancy should have to watch childbirth, not just the segments they show on tv. Oh, and just in case, maybe she should have to watch a c-section, too.

People that take the responsiblity to go to bed with somebody and make a baby should have to go through with the birth of that child,

Yeah, that'll teach her a lesson!

if that is an unwanted baby, then they are millions of couples looking for babies to raise that can't have them!

Millions? (raises eyebrow)

Adoption Statistics: Numbers & Trends

"In the 1990s, there are approximately 120,000 adoptions of children each year. This number has remained fairly constant in the 1990s, and is still relatively proportionate to population size in the U.S. (Flango and Flango, 1994) "

IAC, a woman doesn't have to endure pregnancy/childbirth in order to provide a baby to satisfy someone else's desires.

Are you actually suggesting that people will stop having sex if access to abortion is eliminated?:2funny:

Abortion is a quick way out for something that shouldn't have happened to begin with!

I'm not clear here whether you are saying the pregnancy shouldn't have happened to begin with or the sex shouldn't have happened to begin with....but I guess it's immaterial.

It is cruel and painful, not just for the baby, most of the time for the woman emotionally!

Almost ALL abortions take place before there is ANY possibility of pain for the "baby", the remaining abortions are medically necessary. Women suffer more emotional trauma from giving a baby up for adoption than they do from abortion, so don't pretend all this concern about a woman's suffering. If you were concerned about a woman's suffering, you might think about how cruel and painful it is to endure pregnancy and childbirth compounded by the fact that she doesn't want to do it.

As for all the comments about controlling people, and for the woman not having a CHOICE.....what about that childs choice!!!!!!!! That woman that is pregnant made her choice when she concieved that child! Now the child should have a choice!

The woman made a choice when she had sex and when that results in an unwanted pregnancy, she must make another choice. One must be capable of exercising choice before one is entitled to a choice.

I totally agree with you. I think it would make some young girls think twice about having sex at such a young age. It would also remind women in general the importance of using protection (BOTH parties should use protection if they don't want the girl to get pregnant).

I disagree that women should be forced to view an abortion prior to having one though as that is just very vulgar and the woman is probably in an emotionally stressed state anyway and while it might not change her mind about her choice it might haunt her later and increase the chance that the whole thing has disturbing mental side affects. Agree, agree, agree

*scratches head wondering why she has been agreeing a lot with talloulou ;)*

Since no woman who wants an abortion will want to watch one, exactly how would you enforce your rule?

You get them before they're pregnant while they're young, impressionable, and still in school and you attempt to mold their little minds. Duh!

Nope, the scenario of this thread is a woman, before having an abortion, should have to watch one.

But she will not want to watch one. So how is she made to?

I don't know it's all kind of disgusting. I can't imagine they'd set up a TV in the lobby.

No objections. It strikes me as a perfectly valid part of a sex ed course-- just like the pictures of human roadkill they offer in driver's ed.

I've watched one.
It wouldn't stop me from having another, should the need arise.
Childbirth was grosser, by far.

They are people that actually have a emotional problem with this later!

I guarantee that raising a kid for 18 years generates many many "emotional problems", varying in size and frequency from kid to kid.

I don't think your a doctor no more than I am ! I think you are a horny slut that more than likely has killed many many babies from the way you sound! And as for my name, HONEY, that is something that you can't do right! I love them and raise then and WANTED them....and if I didn't I would have had the morals not to kill them! Doctor I don't think so!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA

How selfish can we get as human beings ourselves? I think this tops the cake as the most!

and the truth of this poster comes out . . .

Just another prolifer, angry that others aren't as controlled as she is, furious that others exercise control over their own lives.

She had to have the sex, and so she had the 4 boys.
She's angry that others can have sex and not have kids.
In her jealousy, she calls this other woman a slut.

Mom of 4 is pretty transparent.
