I still vote D, but ...

I still vote D, but I generally DISagree with the D party on the issue of _____________

I'm not a fan of the D Team.

Being corporate whores

Funding US militarism

Republican Lite, neoliberalism, elitist meritocracy

Being where progressive issues go to die

Yeah, I rejoined them after many years as an Indie. I've always had an uneasy relationship with them, even when I was deeply involved organizing for them. My situation back then was transactional, and when I moved I left them. Now, I'm back because of Trump.

But also, there are facets of the party that excite me, particular some facets of the Bernie wing. I just wish they'd open-up a bit to respect some personal conservative principles.

BTW - great idea for a thread! (y)

I am Independent and have no commitment to any Party anymore. I've voted Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, depending on the election.

I didn't cast a vote, in deference to not being classified a Democrat. However, I currently disagree with Democrat "policy" on all those areas even though I support several absent the current extremism.

For example:

1. I support a woman's right to choose, up until the fetus has enough characteristics to be considered a "human being." Thus I cannot support late-term abortion unless the life of the mother is at grave risk.

2. I support individual liberty so I have no problem with transgender's choices when ADULT. However I don't agree with transitioning a child, nor allowing non-transitioned persons to participate in women's sports. Male physiques still overwhelm female physiques in the vast majority of sports.

3. I oppose defunding the police, or trying to turn them into "social workers." That nonsense reminds me of the movie "Demolition Man."

4. I support legal immigration, where we control our borders and let the best and brightest in, as opposed to just allowing mass migrations. That policy would turn us into another messed up economic situation which reminds me of another movie "Blade Runner."

I could go on, but that's sufficient. Again, not being a Democrat, I did not "vote" in the poll.

Then do a (A) write in vote, or (B) vote third party (voting for Republicans by proxy) or vote Republican.
I don't see a problem, do you, Glenn Greenwald?

I'm more of a Chris Hedges, Hillary Clinton.

Ahhh, the other guy that voted for Jill Stein.
You shouldn't be on the computer, dude...that WiFi is gonna give you cancer.
Wow. Voting for what you want is supposedly a bad thing. And I have to adopt every trait of the Green Party candidate, if she's actually concerned about electromagnetic radiation.

Was it Bernie's and/or Jill Stein's fault that Trump "won"?

Great question! Thanks for making this a multi-choice poll.

I think the Democratic Party is moving too far left on gun restrictions. The Second Amendment prevents all mandatory buybacks. The literal interpretation is, "If you already own a gun, nobody can take it away from you." That does not mean, however, Democrats are wrong about gun sales restrictions. The way I see it, all NEW guns should be registered at the point of sales. If a violent crime is committed with that registered gun, it should be confiscated. What I want to see is people who committed violent gun crimes losing their right to buy a new gun forever If people want to be smart and donate their assault rifles, a problem for that at police states would be money well spent.

The other issue Democrats are moving too far left on is emphasizing public schools to the point that parents on on their own if private schooling is better for specific kids. If a child is struggling in the public school system, a private school might be the solution. Do all Democrats believe in making this school choice? I believe all kids have a right to a free public education, but many kids are better in non-religious private schools and Democrats should not deny them that opportunity.

Demolition Man ... great stuff!

You might change your position after watching "After Tiller."

There’s much that I disagree with in the Democratic Party. They are far too conservative for my politics. I don’t generally vote Democrat. 2018 was the first year that I’ve ever voted for a Democrat. And the only reason I’ve done that is to stop Republicans. I did the same thing this year and I’ll probably continue to vote against Republicans.

I generally agree with the socialist wing of the Democratic Party to the extent that it has a socialist wing. I like some things about some of the corporate approved Dem candidates like Cory Booker. But, until a statement which seems like common sense to me, “billionaires should not exist” (made by Bernie Sanders) can go over without much fuss, I won’t be able to call it home.

At a time when half of workers make $30,000 a year or less billionaires should not exist. So, I agree with some more radical changes to our economic system, ( we live in a mixed economy anyway ) but, I just support changes to the economic system that the Democrats don’t support because they’re paid not to. And some are just scared that the Republicans are going to bully them

Yeah realize the very idea of socialism (Bernie) cannot tolerate the existence of any conservative principle right? Any conservative principle or tradition are stumbling blocks to true socialism, they only hold back true socialism.

there is no examples of socialist regimes respecting personal conservative beliefs that contradict their dogma. At very best they will tolerate such things to the minimum they have to to stay in power.

people like you are going to help us on the right by driving the big dollar sponsors of the Democrat party over to our side

Pssst: American capitalism can't exist without American "socialism."

Let's hope so.

Why should people with 30,000 dollars exist when the majority of the global population makes less then 10 dollars a day?

Pssst: American capitalism can't exist without American "socialism."
That’s not true.
im not talking about socialism in the sense of a state providing public services, which is not socialism, I’m talking about the actual idea of revolutionary socialism which is common ownership of the means of production and a social revolution emphasizing radical egalitarianism.

Why should people with 30,000 dollars exist when the majority of the global population makes less then 10 dollars a day?
There shouldn't be such a gap anywhere.
